We not only save animals from suffering, we also release them back into the wild and protect their natural habitats.

About us

As human populations expand, wildlife comes under increasing threat. By rescuing individual animals belonging to species like the orangutan and reintroducing them into protected areas in the wild, our work also plays a role in the conservation of the species as a whole. Our vision is a world where humans and animals coexist in sustainable ecosystems. Our mission is to build awareness and implement effective systems such that habitats and animals are protected.

  • Today is #WorldMangroveDay, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the superheroes of our planet’s ecosystems. IAR's partners in Indonesia, YIARI, work with local communities to restore mangrove habitats. This sustainable, community-supported initiative not only enhances local biodiversity but also bolsters the ecosystem’s resilience against extreme weather events. Thanks to the dedication and involvement of local people, YIARI's initiative has achieved a remarkable seedling survival rate, highlighting the effectiveness of their restoration efforts. By engaging local communities, YIARI ensures that the restoration efforts are inclusive and beneficial to the people who depend on these vital ecosystems. The collective effort not only protects the environment but also supports local livelihoods and fosters a deeper connection between people and nature. Here are a few reasons why Mangroves are superheroes: 🌊 Coastal Protectors: Mangroves act as natural barriers, shielding shorelines and communities from storms and erosion. 🦜 Biodiversity Hotspots: These ecosystems host a diverse range of species, providing habitats for fish, birds, and numerous other wildlife, including the proboscis monkey. 🌍 Carbon Sinks: Mangroves efficiently absorb and store carbon dioxide, helping to fight climate change. 🐟 Nurseries of the Sea: Many marine species, including key fish, spend part of their lives in mangroves. 💧 Water Purifiers: Mangroves filter pollutants from water, improving water quality and supporting marine life. Happy #WorldMangroveDay!

This magnificent Asian golden cat was caught on a camera trap in Batutegi forest, Sumatra by our Indonesian partners YIARI. The team is working with local communities and government authorities to monitor and protect the forest and the rich biodiversity within it. The golden cat is one of many extraordinary species of wildlife that depend on the forest for survival. Its Conservation Status is Near Threatened, signalling that this beautiful wild cat needs help in order to survive and thrive in its natural habitat. Camera traps are an essential tool for identifying and monitoring wildlife in its natural environment without disturbance.

  • There is nothing better than seeing an animal return to freedom, back in the wild where it belongs.

This beautiful howler monkey came into our rescue centre in Nosara, Costa Rica with severe burn injuries. After specialist treatment and care from vet Fran and his team, the little monkey was deemed ready to return to his home in the forest. Returning an animal to its natural habitat is the ultimate reward for the team's work caring for Costa Rican wildlife.
