  • 🥂IFIG is twenty-five! 🥂 This year, IFIG celebrates a quarter-century of successfully uniting against insurance fraud. And we’ve got plenty to be proud of… Over the last twenty-five years, we’ve developed an intelligence-sharing and networking platform that gives fraud investigators a unique, sector-wide, counter fraud resource. We’ve been recognised as a Specified Anti-Fraud Organisation (SAFO). And, by integrating industry groups, we’ve harnessed the power of collaboration. In short, we’ve made ourselves stronger together to detect and prevent fraud, driving high standards at every turn and attracting member organisations from all sectors. We couldn’t have got here without our amazing volunteers and supporters past and present. So, to all those working tirelessly behind the scenes, to our sponsors and board members, a heartfelt thank you. Today, with fraud threats such as AI and its impact on cybercrime, it’s never been more important to keep pace with fraudsters and protect genuine customers. As IFIG’s first female chair, I’m excited to take us into our next stage of growth. And we have plenty planned. At our AGM on October 3rd, we won’t just be welcoming almost 50 member organisations, we’ll also be announcing an exciting new partnership. So, watch this space… That just leaves me to say, here’s to the next 25 years! Head of Fraud , Weightmans

We’re attending this year’s Airmic Annual Conference on 03 to 05 June. If you’re attending, please do come and say hello, we’ll be on stand C12. This year we’re focusing on 3 key areas: Economic Crime & Corporate Transparency Act 2023 This Act forms part of a suite of legislative measures specifically designed to prevent abuse of UK corporate structures and to combat economic crime. The Act introduces a new corporate offence of failing to prevent fraud which applies to all ‘large organisations’ defined as meeting at least two of the following criteria: ·        250 staff ·        £36 million annual turnover ·        £18 million held assets Organisations falling under the new Act must have reasonable procedures in place to prevent fraud. We’ve created a questionnaire to run through with you at our stand, so that you can learn how this new Act could impact your organisation. Predictive analytics PREDiCT is our latest product that applies predictive analytics to drive improved claims handling performance. The tool transforms the conventional way of handling high value injury claims. We’ll be demonstrating how it can help settle cases quickly and commercially. In a nutshell we’ll run through how it can help you deliver improved outcomes around three core KPI’s: ·        Improved reserving accuracy - unlock more capital for reinvestment purposes ·        Reduced claims lifecycle - enhance customer experience & strengthen consumer confidence ·        Improved financial outcomes – driving the pace of litigation Cybercrime We’ll be showcasing a demo of the DarkWeb and running through how you can apply cyber intelligence to claims assessments. Find out how digital forensics and incident response can strengthen claims assessments by identifying any security gaps. We’ll demonstrate how you can apply intelligence to evaluate reach data and incorporate the DarkWeb into Due Diligence reviews.

  • 🔍 Keeping Our Eyes Open: Tackling Online Scams 🔍 As the digital landscape evolves, so do the tactics of fraudsters. The recent BBC News article sheds light on the alarming rise of online scams, with fake Olympics and Taylor Swift tickets among the top schemes targeting consumers. At IFIG, we're dedicated to staying vigilant and proactive in the fight against fraud. The staggering £1.17 billion stolen in 2023 serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by cybercriminals. While we've seen some progress in combating fraud, such as the decline in unauthorised transactions, it's clear that more needs to be done. The upcoming regulations on reimbursement for payment fraud victims underscore the urgency of our mission. In the face of evolving scams, it's crucial for consumers to stay informed and cautious. Conducting research before making purchases, avoiding bank transfers for ticket transactions, and being wary of unsolicited offers are just a few ways to protect oneself from falling victim to fraud. Together, let's work towards a safer and more secure online environment for all. Stay informed, stay vigilant, and together, we can outsmart the scammers. 💪 #FraudPrevention #OnlineSafety #StayVigilant https://lnkd.in/eGkjdqa6
