About us

In Kind Direct is the UK's leading product giving specialist, inspiring product giving for social good up and down the country. We work with not-for-profit organisations and companies to help ensure that everyone has access to life's essentials and that no usable product goes to waste. We achieve this by distributing usable products donated by some of the UK's best known manufacturers and retailers to a network of charities, social enterprises and not-for-profit organisations in the UK. We provide a one-stop solution for companies with goods to donate - from toiletries, cleaning products and toys, to office supplies, household goods and clothes. Since foundation by HM King Charles III in 1996, we have distributed over £346 million in value of products from over 1,339 companies. 15,000 UK charities have benefited by receiving products, helping over 365,000 people each week.

We're celebrating the end of our Summer of Play campaign working in partnership with Save the Children UK, where our mission was to ensure children and their families had the #SummerofPlay they deserve. We were able to support over 3,000 charitable organisations in our network, with product donations including toys, sports kits and books, to help them run their summer services. Save the Children provided grant funding to 27 of their local partners in 17 areas across the UK, supporting over 3,500 children this summer. We'd like to thank all 60 partners who donated a wide range of items to encourage summer fun for everyone. If you’re a charitable organisation and need support with products, join our network for free, click the link in bio 🧡 Find out more about Save the Children’s work across the UK here https://lnkd.in/eEDm-cQ5

Chief Executive Officer at In Kind Direct

It has been a privilege to lead In Kind Direct over the last five years, partnering with others to enable more communities to thrive, even through the toughest of times. I am enormously proud of what has been achieved and to have had the opportunity to build such an incredibly passionate and dedicated team who work tirelessly with our partners and supporters to deliver a meaningful difference to people’s lives.   At the heart of what we do are our 6,500 charity partners who every week support over 520,000 people with much needed essentials. Spending time with these partners up and down the country has given me a deeper understanding of poverty in the UK and the reality for many families who are making the impossible choice of whether to heat, eat or keep clean. These partners are unsung heroes, people who make huge sacrifices to support their communities. Their stories and those of their service users will always remain with me. Thank you for all you do!   I have learnt so much and admire the many corporate leaders who have championed In Kind Direct in their organisations. They have seen the impact that their Brands and products can make to those in need and have been innovative and pioneering in finding new ways to make a difference and committed to regular product donations. I look forward to seeing these partnerships continue to grow as we continue to tackle #hygienepoverty, #childrensrighttoplay, #digitalinclusion.   Through our research and listening to our network, we have better understood our role in tackling poverty. Through this mapping we have developed much deeper sector partnerships that have enabled us to understand product giving as a gateway to enabling other services. Proud of our work with so many in the sector to continue tackling the widening gap in society; alleviating immediate need and pushing for systemic change.   As I move on today would like to thank our funders, Patrons, supporters, charity network, sector and corporate partners for being part of the In Kind Direct journey as we have tripled our impact and ensure that everyone has access to life’s essentials and no usable product goes to waste!   To the IKD and IKDI team, thank you for living our values of innovation, integrity, kindness and togetherness every day and making this a great place to work. I have been fortunate to have an incredible leadership team of Charlotte Walshe, Marc GreeneNeil Chawla and wish you all the best as you take IKD into 2025! As I pass on the baton to Marc Greene and then Michael Gidney will be cheering you on in this next chapter.

Can you help? Ahead of National Hygiene Week we are on a mission to raise £80,000 to help 50,000 families living in hygiene poverty. Sadly this is the daily reality for many families across the UK. Donate just £10 today to support 6 families living in hygiene poverty. Tap to donate https://bit.ly/4ef19xN

In my time at In Kind Direct we have responded to the growing need for essential products. We’re now reaching over 500,000 people every week, ensuring that everyone has access to the products they need to keep clean and well. As I reflect on what it has taken to make this possible, I am so aware that at the heart of this growth is our warehouse and team in Telford! Our partnership with Telford Transport Solutions Ltd has been pivotal in enabling us to meet the growing demand. Huge thank you to Jason Woolley and his wonderful team who continue to support us to have impact across the UK.
