⚡ Safety Flash 16/24 is available to read and download now, featuring hand and arm injuries > https://imca.me/nEY2s6L 📢 Members continue to report hand and finger injuries. In last year’s safety statistics, 42% of LTIs reported by IMCA members involved injuries caused when workers got into the Line of Fire. 🛑 What do we need to do to stop workers putting their hands and fingers in dangerous places? We all want to get the job done – but that one quick pause, whilst we stop to think, could make ALL the difference. • Is there a better way to do this? • Could I use a tool instead? • Should there be a guard? Should I have gloves on? • Is this still too hot to touch? Is it live or is it still spinning? • Think carefully before putting your hands where you can’t see them. Let us know your thoughts in the comments 👇

IMCA clarifies guidance on selection of eCMID/eMISW inspection templates. The system's two threads, eCMID and eMISW, have been arranged to cover the majority of common vessel types found within the marine, offshore and small workboat sectors. The Marine eCMID committee have agreed to an update of the categorisations of the two schemes to simplify the decision. The new selection criteria: · eCMID should be used for vessels of 500GT and more · eMISW should be used for vessels less than 500GT Read more > https://imca.me/oDFlKXs

Raising standards for Walk-to-Work. Motion compensated Walk-to-Work (W2W) gangways have been used by the offshore oil and gas industry for some time, but the recent pace of innovation by manufacturers and suppliers for the booming offshore wind market has resulted in a rise in incidents. IMCA has held a series of workshops over the last few months – at regional meetings around the globe and our DP Conference in Amsterdam – and in April this year, it co-hosted an industry workshop with G Global Offshore Wind Health and Safety Organisation in London, looking at the safety-critical aspects of the design and operation of W2W systems. IMCA’s Marine Renewable Energy Committee has already started the formal review on the existing Guidance (IMCA M254).
