From calculating food waste to collecting plastics from the beach the Holroyd Howe team at West Buckland School, co-ed day and boarding school for 3-18 year olds in North Devon really support the education of our students to think and behave responsibly through making the community’s efforts towards sustainability very tangible - 28 kilos of plastics removed from the beach. Amazing effort!

Did you know that tackling sewage and plastic pollution is now a government priority? The new Secretary of State for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs, Steve Reed, has outlined five key priorities for his department. Among them are: 1. to clean up rivers, lakes, and seas 2. create a roadmap to move Britain to a zero-waste economy At Holroyd Howe, we’re proud to support these goals. On Monday, our Southwest teams removed 28.2kg of rubbish from the ocean during the Surfers Against Sewage Million Mile Clean, covering 3 miles in 2 hours. They collected everything from microplastics and plastic cups to fishing gear—and even an old boat pump! With the UK using 7 million disposable coffee cups every day, we’re also helping our schools reduce waste through our reusables campaign.
