"Imagine a healthcare unit that modifies lighting, temperature, and sound to optimise patient recovery based on specific care needs and the time of day. Or imagine an office that recognises its occupant’s moods and responds by creating a more calming atmosphere, or adjusts the environment to promote wellbeing, demonstrating empathy and improving care." Does this remind you of a scene from a sci-fi movie? 🌌 Principal research consultant Eirini Tsouknida discusses the hashtag #sentientbuildings research program in her latest insight 'What if our buildings could talk?'. We are proud to have been selected to join the inaugural SEAM Technical Advisory Group (TAG). SEAM, Inc. As a TAG member, we will help develop crosswalks between SEAM and other building certification standards, facilitating the integration of SEAM’s social equity criteria. The standard takes a multifaceted approach and as such captures the complex nature of social sustainability, which is highly personal and contextual to the needs and experiences of people. Our responsibilities will include creating detailed mappings, collaborating with certification bodies, refining SEAM criteria and continuing our commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable built environment. https://lnkd.in/e2vg-JJu Tetra Tech High Performance Buildings Group | Cosentini Associates | Glumac | NDY | Hoare Lea

How do you deliver the best social value for schools and communities? How do you know your ESG commitments to education will be effective for society, the future of construction and the planet? Asking ourselves these important questions led us to Class Of Your Own (COYO), creators of the award-winning Design Engineer Construct! Learning Programme. We love the way the programme supports real-world learning and teaching for the future of construction, focussing on learning with purpose; putting people and planet at the heart of every project. In 2023 we provided funding for COYO to employ a diversity champion to review and adapt their programme, ensuring the curriculum is fully inclusive for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This week, we are thrilled to say our Neurodiversity network group has adopted More House School, a school with a long history of supporting students with Specific Learning Difficulties – whose purpose is to empower all pupils to transform their futures. We have made a commitment to provide support for specialist teacher training and student opportunities. Both More House School and Class of Your Own are doing amazing work to empower and educate young people to design, engineer and construct an extraordinary future and we're excited to be part of this! #Architecture #Engineering #Construction #AEC #DEC #Neurodiversity Thanks to Zachary Searle Alison Watson MBE Daniel McDonagh Jonathan Hetherington Kelly Reed Tetra Tech High Performance Buildings Group | Cosentini Associates | Glumac | NDY | Hoare Lea
