The eight-floor hotel features 190 vibrant guestrooms, several F&B options including the Guilty Restaurant, Sports Bar, and Lobby bar, a gym, and three meeting room Laboratories. Interiors take inspiration from traditional British icons including a Big Ben rocket sculpture in the lobby, tables featuring cockney rhyming slang and oversized gold bell lights reminiscent of London's church bells.

Presented as a multimedia gallery within a dedicated space by set-builders Cloud & Horse Production Ltd in our brand new Gallery Hall, each team’s vision is centred around a deep-dive report on the building and surrounding area by heritage consultants Historic Productions, and celebrates the power of history, locality, and community in hotel design. Ahead of the big reveal on 27 November, we sat down with each studio to hear more about their proposed concepts and approaches to creating a sense of place. Next up are hospitality branding and interior specialists 3Stories with an experience that channels the building’s storied history as an entertainment venue and the bustling social life of Islington past and present. A station for people visiting, or a destination for those looking to find out more about moving towards a plant-based society, whether that’s reducing our impact, or reimagining the waste production process. It’s a luxury experience, but also a kind of factory for reinventing the way that we live; a test bed of how we can improve a sector that has become quite damaging in a lot of ways." First up is 4Corners Design, the in-house studio of development specialists SUSD London, who have repositioned the BDC as a nexus of forward-thinking fringe experiences anchored by Islington’s legacy as a hotspot for nonconformist innovation and unorthodox thinking. Here, Managing Director Peter 'Harry' Harris and architects Patricia Triviño Herrero and Sándor Ambrus share the influences behind their vision - Smithfield Cattle Club Hotel. "We’ve reimagined the BDC as a centre of guided journeys, embracing new and natural psychedelics and traditional drugs to promote mental health, along with the discovery of decadent, elevated experiences. It imagines a future where things that are seen as subversive now are commonplace, where you can drop by for a psilocybin omelette before a therapeutic guided experience from an expert practitioner."
