International Women's Day

This March, to celebrate International Women's Day, all Hitachi colleagues have been invited to join a series of webinars, which will share insights and conversations on Gender Equity & Inclusion. These conversations aim to generate ideas about what we can do individually, and within our teams, to foster a more inclusive culture. The first of these webinars took place on 1st March. The webinar 'Engaging Men as Advocates: What, Why, and How' was attended by our colleagues globally.

Black History Month

The Real McCoy: In honor of Black History Month, we are celebrating black engineers, inventors, and pioneers that have been integral to the evolution of trains and transportation here in the U.S. Elijah J. McCoy was a Canadian American engineer of African American descent who invented lubrication systems for steam engines. He patented his first significant invention, the automatic lubricator, in 1872 while working with Michigan Central Railroad. This invention allowed trains to travel longer.

Supporting local communities

Our team in Honolulu has been busy volunteering with the O’ahu Surfrider Foundation at local beach clean-ups. Employees from #teamhitachi and their families volunteered to clean up plastic pollution and learn about the history of Makapu’u Beach in Waimanalo and Tracks Beach in Nanakuli.
