High Value Manufacturing Catapult CEO, Katherine Bennett CBE, has told Siemens Transform 2024 ‘net zero has to be our North Star.’ Speaking on the Disruptive Industrial Leadership panel, Katherine said: ‘R&D is often seen as a financial burden, especially for SMEs where resources are limited. We need to encourage them, demonstrate how they can improve and provide a safe place to innovate.’ Katherine was joined on the panel by Brian Holliday, Karen Betts, Adam Ward, Donna Edwards and Stephen Phipson CBE. The AMRC showcased collaborative work with Siemens with the Siemens Connected Sustainability project and the uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) demonstrating the ‘digital thread’. #SiemensTransform #ukmfg #manufacturing

The Business and Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds MP hosted a call with business owners earlier this week to outline his vision for economic growth. Research and development sits at the heart of this, giving UK businesses a competitive edge through innovation. Since 2011, the High Value Manufacturing Catapult has worked with more than 30,600 companies, including 17,500 SMEs, on more than 12,500 collaborative projects. But there is much more to do. This next chapter will see us working with businesses, government and academia to build resilient, agile and capable supply chains to establish the UK as a centre for green industry. We’re also looking at #skills, including what might be needed in the future as technology develops. We’re looking forward to working with Jonathan Reynolds and the Department for Business and Trade on delivering the government’s industrial strategy 🏭. #Industry #Business #Manufacturing
