Fantastic to be back in London at the Grocer Gold Awards 2024 in the prestigious Royal Albert Hall, and for Henderson Retail to pick up the award for Independent Retail Chain of the Year for the third time in four years! Mark McCammond, Retail Director (pictured with Henderson Group Joint Managing Director, Geoffrey Agnew) said; “This award is testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team in raising the standards for community retailing – not just here in Northern Ireland, but across all regions of the UK.” Judges were impressed with the company’s growth in 2023, driven by additions to the company estate, alongside the introduction of a wide and diverse variety of services and products, from burrito and pizza bars to Barista Bar coffee to go, to our new tech solutions bringing further operational efficiencies in-store. Our mission to be famous for fresh and local produce continues while we invest even more in our pricing to bring value to the doorsteps of the communities within which we operate. It’s been a whirlwind of a week and we’re delighted to finish it off by receiving three awards from the Chartered Institute of Fundraising Northern Ireland! 🎉 Well done to our long term supporter Eddie Marcus who received a Special Recognition award to mark over 30 years of volunteering. Eddie has set up fundraising groups, led on events and engaged communities to help us support children and families impacted by cancer and we are so happy to see his efforts being celebrated 💛 We were awarded the Fundraising Partnership award for our work with Henderson Group whose Eurospar and VivoXtra stores have raised over £1.7 million to help ensure children and young people don’t have to face cancer alone. Our HR team have had a great day offering informative on-line and in person sessions to our team. GroceryAid offer a 24/7 helpline which is open 365 days of the year for immediate emotional support and if you have worked in the grocery industry consistently for the past six months, you may also be eligible to apply for a non-repayable grant should you be experiencing financial difficulties. In 2023, Grocery Aid introduced a Breast Cancer Fund for Grocery Colleagues including financial, emotional and practical support for our colleagues or their partner/spouse who has received a breast cancer diagnosis in the last 12 months. If you juggle work with caring for a loved one it is important to remember that support is available. This could be a confidential chat, structured counselling, information on sick pay/benefits or support services. If caring means you need financial help, GroceryAid also provide one-off grants.
