Did you know Heathrow is the UK's largest port by value? ✈️ 📦 Last year Heathrow processed almost £200 billion worth of cargo, more than Felixstowe, Southampton and the Eurotunnel combined. As the country's only hub airport, Heathrow plays a vital role ensuring exporters from across all four nations can get their world-class goods into global marketplaces. From sole traders to large multinationals, Heathrow's access to 200 destinations helps deliver trade and investment for the UK. #Heathrow #Cargo #Airport #Ports

It’s great to see the formal announcement of a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) mandate from 2025 and the introduction of a SAF revenue certainty mechanism. We're committed to working with Government and industry to support this new legislation - by joining forces we have the capability to make the UK a a global SAF leader! 🌱🛫🇬🇧

    Group CEO at Heathrow Airport

Today, the Transport Secretary Louise Haigh MP announced two critical initiatives to scale up Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production in the UK: the formal announcement of a SAF mandate from 2025 and a SAF revenue certainty mechanism. This is an important milestone, and it is positive to see the Government take further steps to help kick start a domestic SAF industry in the UK.   At Heathrow, we'll continue to play our part, delivering our first-of-its- kind SAF incentive scheme that approximately halves the price gap between kerosene and its greener alternatives. We know SAF production can stimulate economic growth and help make Britain a clear energy superpower, and I look forward to working with Ministers to engage and help shape legislation that works for Government, industry, passengers and the environment, and which creates opportunities for people right across the UK. #SAF #Aviation #Heathrow

Heathrow is the UK's only hub airport, this means we're able to offer unparalleled connectivity by pooling regional demand from local passengers, international transfer passengers and freight. This hub model makes Heathrow the world’s best-connected airport and is why Heathrow is able to connect the UK with 200 destinations. These connections help attract and enable inward investment to all parts of the country. So whether it's supporting high-value manufacturers in the North East, salmon farmers in Scotland, packaging producers in Northern Ireland or family-run food retailers in Wales, Heathrow's unrivalled connectivity helps UK businesses get their goods to global markets.

🌱💼 Yesterday's King's Speech saw the government set out their commitment to decarbonising aviation with the inclusion of the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (Revenue Support Mechanism) Bill. Our Chief Communications and Sustainability Officer, Nigel Milton, shares why this is important and how Heathrow plans to support the new government with their ambitions. “It is encouraging to see the Government reaffirm their commitment to Sustainable Aviation Fuel as the principal immediate path to decarbonise aviation. Delivering the revenue certainty mechanism at pace is now the critical next step to attract the investment required to kickstart SAF production in the UK. Heathrow continues to play a leadership role by creating a microclimate for SAF at the UK's hub through our incentive scheme. Decisive Government action will ensure the whole country benefits from the green jobs and growth that SAF brings. We look forward to working with Ministers to engage and shape legislation that works for Government, industry and creates job opportunities for people right across the UK.” #SustainableAviationFuel #SAF #Sustainability #Heathrow #decarbonisation #Aviation
