https://lnkd.in/e3XeCHp4 As we've long argued, releasing the value of flexibility will be a core component of how the great energy transition is to be funded. This paper is another excellent contribution to the discussion Centre for Net Zero (Octopus Energy Group) Andy Hackett

The impact on emissions from the heat pump roll-out is already considerable but needs to be accelerated through positive policy in the UK. Other countries, such as Finland, have shown what can be achieved
“The 24 million heat pumps installed in Europe are avoiding 45 megatonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, roughly the same amount as Hungary’s annual output." European Heat Pump Association’s Director General Paul Kenny, in his opening speech at the #HPForum & #HPAward 2024. “If Europe is serious about decarbonisation, energy independence, and job creation, it must get serious about heat pumps—but we need national governments, associations, and manufacturers to step up,” Kenny emphasised. Now more than ever, we need a Heat Pump Action Plan. 👉🏻 Discover all the sessions here: https://hp-forum.eu/ #HeatPumps #HeatRight

https://lnkd.in/deQzFqP3 An additional £50m potentially now available to increase the supply of Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) Vouchers through to March 2025. It's not clear whether this pulls forward a proportion of the 2025-26 budget, but the fact that a possible hiatus in voucher allocations is being avoided is extremely welcome news. We are delighted, and grateful, that the BUS team at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has responded so positively and quickly to the budget concerns raised by the trade bodies, working in unison. We can now look forward to a record year for domestic heat pump deployment in the UK.

These community engagements are becoming increasingly in demand. Tomorrow, 3rd October, we'll be in Cheltenham at the invitation of Planet Cheltenham, https://lnkd.in/eN5_kN3w We're very much looking forward to meeting Raechel Kelly, her colleagues and their audience for another evening of grown up conversation about the future energy transition

https://lnkd.in/ebkJYiNV Another cracking evening discussing the energy transition, and the role for heat decarbonisaiton, with the community in Cambridge. As is now routine, really insightful and probing questions from the audience on how to make heat pump technologies work for them, and on how to make the sums stack up. Time for Department for Energy Security and Net Zero to publish the consultation on the future for electricity pricing! Thanks to Cambridge Carbon Footprint and Francesca Sutton for inviting us in to their community

https://lnkd.in/egumgKcQ Be more Swedish! Care probably needs to be taken with the cost comparisons because here in the UK we are currently facing the costs of the energy transition. Once we are into the realms of mere cyclical heat pump replacements, the costs will be more "Swedish"
