Hello Clerkenwell Road! 👋 After winning an internal competition to design our new office shopfront, June Tong's idea was recently installed. The vinyl pattern creates a colourful curtain which wraps around the ground floor window, inviting passers-by to catch a glimpse of the activity inside the studio. Thanks to Glyphics Ltd for the installation! Here's a sneak peek! 👇

Welcome to our new studio and The Hut - a 'building inside a building' - inspired by cabins and retreats loved by writers, philosophers and Snoopy, and designed by artist Richard Woods. In our short film, partner and interior design lead Morag Morrison talks about working with Richard to create this quiet place for staff and visitors alike to contemplate, create, or simply enjoy a moment away. Architects’ Journal delves into the co-living sector including a look at Hawkins\Brown’s Palm House scheme in Harrow – the first purpose-built, shared living building in the capital and the realisation of the concept of ‘sleeping in your room, but living in the building’. Our partner and residential sector lead, Greg Moss, talks about his role in shaping the GLA’s Shared Living (LSPBSL) guidance. His view is that the guidance is well thought through and that it allows for design quality to be considered in full, whilst maintaining flexibility for a variety of project scenarios and for the aspirations of different developers and operators to be addressed. Another sold-out tour of the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London 🎉 It's always a pleasure to show people the deep retrofit of this building which tackled structural issues, boosted social spaces, and more than doubled its capacity. Big thanks to Tom Noonan and Euan Macdonald for leading the tours, and Building Centre for including us in their #Retrofit24 programme. How are we 'bringing the wonder back' to #EarlsCourt? At the Festival of Place, Hawkins\Brown associate Fiona Stewart and Studio Egret West founding director David West showed how our masterplan for the new Earls Court development celebrates the former exhibition centre’s rich history of live music and events and reimagines it for the future. Our masterplan, designed alongside Studio Egret West for the The Earls Court Development Company, aims to celebrate this heritage and make this area a hub for creative talent again. Plans include a diverse range of fixed and pop-up venues and cultural spaces, production and recording studios, and a hotel. Fiona and David shared the stage with Gort Scott, Kajima Europe, and ING Media, who explored other inspiring placemaking projects in London - all shortlisted in The Pineapple Awards 2024. Discover more about the masterplan providing 300,000 sq ft of space for retail, dining, leisure and culture: https://lnkd.in/gRDR5xeR #Placemaking #EarlsCourt #FestivalOfPlace #ThePineapples2024 #Architecture #UrbanDesign #Sustainability The Developer and Festival of Place #Masterplan

We had a lovely time with artist and long-time friend Rodney Harris at #BrickWorksLondon, sharing the stories behind Burridge Gardens' sculptures. Alongside our partner Phil Catcheside and associate Campbell Metcalfe, Rodney shared one of our favourite tales: the story of two ducks perched on the espalier tree sculpture on the community hall entrance. These carvings celebrate and remember Dilly and Dally - a beloved pair who make their way back to the area every year. We’re proud of our collaboration with sculptors Valda Jackson MBE RWA and Rodney Harris which has kept the site's past and memories alive. And thank you to Ibstock Plc for hosting us, and Brick Development Association (BDA) for inviting us to speak alongside David Kohn Architects and ACS Stainless Steel Fixings Ltd. https://lnkd.in/eY4xn3pD
