We once again welcomed year 10 textile students from Woodkirk Academy, Leeds to experience our unique farm and factory tour to help with their GCSE coursework. The students started at Hornington Manor farm, where they got to see the animals and discover the secrets behind growing and processing our natural fillings such as hemp that go inside our mattresses. The group then travelled 18 miles down the road to our Leeds factory where they got an insider’s look into how our mattresses are made, step by step. We 💙 hemp. And right now our crop is flourishing on our farm. Soon it will be ready to cut and once it’s softened in the fields, it will be processed into our homegrown, super comfy, temperature and moisture-regulating natural filling for our mattresses. Bed Makers to Hemp Growers! Liam McPartland, our farmer had the pleasure of co-hosting a hemp and flax exploration day at our Harrison Spinks farm, alongside Composites UK - Trade Association. It was all about showing how we take natural fibres from a field and use them to create our luxurious mattresses and beds. “The passion and excitement in the room about using natural fillings and fibres made it a fantastic day” said Liam. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to grow our own hemp fibre but it’s all worth it to create our handcrafted, luxurious mattresses filled with only the best natural ingredients. We were delighted to give a warm, Yorkshire welcome to some of our European retailer partners last week. It’s a big day for our sheep and Becky our farmer, they are all attending the biggest date in their diaries, the Great Yorkshire Show! Wool is an essential fibre for our luxury mattresses, it helps to regulate your body temperature whilst you sleep. The show is a fantastic platform to share our passion for sheep, their amazing wool, and the farming community. It’s one of the many reasons why we are ‘cut from a different cloth.’ Last year we won in practically every category we entered, and we are hoping for the same success again. Last week, some of the team got to do something a little different - volunteering!    They visited the Wild Ingleborough area; a programme we are delighted to support, where Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Natural England and others are leading work to restore, reconnect and protect the large upland areas of Ingleborough in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. It’s all about restoring land from the valley floor to the mountain top, reconnecting patches of habitat to allow wildlife to move more freely in the landscape, and improve resilience in our changing climate. The team got stuck into drystone walling. These stone walls serve as important land boundaries, protecting and sheltering many birds and small mammals. They also explored the area, learning about tree planting that is taking place and saw the regeneration of peat bogs and local plants. The goal is to create a haven for the insect population, creating a more attractive habitat for birds and wildlife to thrive and bring back nature to the area.   Our commitment to invest in a local project is already paying off with the immediate benefit of cleaner air and helping with biodiversity in the area.   #harrisonspinks #conservation #wildingleborough #yorkshiredales #naturalengland #yorkshirewildlifetrust

We are proud to partner with Leeds-based charity, Zarach and have supported this great cause on our doorstep for a number of years. With their aim of giving ‘every head a bed’ they are dedicated to helping children in poverty get a good night’s sleep. We are committed to providing 20 custom-made mattresses each month. We recently joined our delivery team on their journey to drop off our mattresses and looked around their warehouse. Champions Community Support and Health is a local charity in Leeds that we have supported since 2021. Today they help hundreds of families with free sports sessions and much more. We have provided the children with Christmas gifts, sports equipment and kit, and practical workplace skills training during this time. More recently, we have taken our handcrafted upholstery from beds to chairs and given a second life to some seating for the charity to use in their meeting room.
