Staff and volunteers in our libraries are all set for another reading extravaganza as schools break up. They’ve launched this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, with the theme ‘Marvellous Makers’. Children are being encouraged to explore their creativity through reading and various activities. It’s a fantastic opportunity for children to keep their reading skills fresh over the school holidays while enjoying the books they love. Last year, over 19,000 children participated across Hampshire. Running from 13 July to 7 September, the challenge is open to children aged 4 to 11. By joining, children can keep their reading skills fresh over the school holidays while enjoying the books they love – last year we saw more than 19,000 children join in across the county. Check out our video featuring children talking about their favourite books and some top tips for encouraging reading. #SummerReadingChallenge #HampshireLibraries #Literacy #Education
