This month has seen a major milestone for one of the UK’s most significant #healthtech firms, Huma, which has raised $80 million in Series D funding. This brings total money raised by the firm to over $300 million, reflecting interest in its AI-powered tools for optimising virtual care, clinical trials and patient support. The UK #AI scene has received another big boost with a $10 million Series A funding round secured by Manchester-based startup, CultureAI.   The platform detects potentially risky online behaviour on the part of employees, such as repeating passwords and interacting with phishing attempts. This allows companies to better protect themselves from myriad cyber threats. Its CEO has described the technology as emulating the effectiveness of a “team of thousands” – a striking statement which goes some way to explaining why the startup has raised more than $19 million in total so far.

A new report Gartner on last-mile delivery technology solutions breaks down the top priorities for improvements across supply chain organisations. Looking at this data, Oliver Rupps, Hampleton Partners’ Sector Principal for logistics, digital #logistics solutions and tech-enabled #supplychain management, notes that: “The key drivers of supply chain optimisation are innovations in operating models, productivity and efficiency, and customer service and experience. These are the factors defining the M&A agenda of large players and private equity investors on digital supply chain solutions. At Hampleton Partners, we notice these factors driving an ongoing high acquisition level in the European market.”

Our recent Enterprise Software M&A report notes how the power of #AI to transform tools in this sector is helping drive investor and acquirer interest. A recent windfall for Irish startup Solidroad is a case in point, with the Dublin-based onboarding platform successfully raising $1.2 million. Pitched as a “flight simulator for customer facing teams”, Solidroad allows staff to practice conversations with customers and receive personalised feedback from an AI coach, and is a prime example of how #machinelearning is impacting recruitment and training processes.
