The focus and onus on major wine businesses, be they producers, importers, distributors or retailers, to improve their sustainability credentials increases month by month. At Hallgarten we take this subject very seriously. We strive for accountability in terms of sustainability, ED&I and the environment – within our business, with our producers, and with our third-party agents. It is part of the Hallgarten ‘DNA’. This is why we launched the Hallgarten Eco Standard. A standard created to help evaluate the sustainable performances of our supplier partners. Massive congratulations to Kristina, one of Hallgarten’s talented and passionate wine educators, who recently completed the Wine & Spirit Education Trust Educator Training Programme. Since Kristina joined the Hallgarten team she has educated thousands of front-of-house team members, passing on her infinite wine knowledge, helping others to love wine as much as we do. Cheers to Kristina and the thousands more students ahead of her, undertaking the Hallgarten WineSure programme or WSET courses! 🥂

We are proud to announce a new initiative designed to help advance Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) in the wine industry by offering individuals from diverse backgrounds, working in the hospitality or wine industry, the opportunity to travel to Greece on an educational wine trip with Hallgarten Wines. The fully-funded trip is open to two individuals and will take place in October 2024, including flights to and from Thessaloniki and educational visits to three iconic wineries in Northern Greece: Ktima Biblia Chora, Akrathos Winery and Ktima Gerovassiliou. Designed to deepen the successful individuals' understanding of the wine industry, the unique trip will immerse the attendees in a region in which Hallgarten Wines has long been an industry leader. "Diverse background" is a broad term that can include, but is not limited to, people with disabilities, various ethnicities, neurodiversity, different gender identities, and sexual orientations. We are extremely proud to once again be supporting our local community at Pride in Luton 2024 🏳️🌈 Pride In Luton hosted Bedfordshire's and Luton's first ever Pride Festival in June 2022, and will be returning this year. The organisation has been developing and building a diverse community in Luton, and has held a number of events to bring this community together. At the 2024 Sommelier Wine Awards we were extremely proud to take home the pinnacle of the Merchant Trophies, the award for Large Merchant of the Year 2024! Alongside this achievement, two wines from the Hallgarten portfolio claimed the trophies for Overall Wine of the Year, Red Fine Wine of the Year Trophy and Gastropub Wine of the Year! 🏆 Overall Wine of the Year & Red Fine Wine of the Year Trophies: Michele Chiarlo, Cipressi, Barbera d’Asti Superiore Nizza 2021 🏆 Gastropub Wine of the Year Trophy: GAIA WINES, 'Notios' White, Peloponnese 2022 Presented at Imbibe Live, the Sommelier Wine Awards is the UK’s only on-trade wine competition, focusing entirely on wines aimed at the hospitality sector. At the start of 2024, we were delighted to announce our Investors in People Silver accreditation, further demonstrating our commitment to promoting the development of our people throughout the organisation. Last week we were proud to attend the Investors in People Celebration Event where we received our Silver plaque and were joined by all the companies that had been accredited in the last 12 months. In the last year we have placed a strong emphasis on training individuals in the business, with an amazing 143 courses taken by employees. The courses ranged from learning about Cultural Consciousness, to Net Contribution, Management Training, Presentation Skills, Basic First Aid, British Sign Language, Presentation Skills and Microsoft Excel.

Last week we were proud to be part of another amazing week at #RoyalAscot, as Official Wine Supplier! Being a part of this incredible spectacle each year, alongside some of the country's finest chefs, jockeys, trainers and horses is a huge privilege. Having first partnered with Ascot Racecourse in 2018, Hallgarten Wines has supplied over 750,000 bottles of wine across all enclosures, bars and restaurants, with over 120 different wines represented throughout the racecourse. As part of the all-encompassing partnership, Hallgarten’s wine education team has trained over 5,500 front-of-house staff in its bespoke WineSure training programme and has submitted more than 200 team members through WSET levels 1 and 2. #RoyalAscot2024 #AscotRaces

This June we are celebrating the first ever #GreekWineMonth in the UK, so what better way to mark the occasion than by inviting a host of some of our incredible Greek winemaking partners to the UK for a series of tastings! We started the week in London, pouring the wines from our portfolio to partners in the trade before journeying to Cambridge and Bath to show what it is about this amazing winemaking country that makes it so special. 📸 Here's a few of our favourite memories from London.
