Working on the A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet project in close collaboration with the National Highways Customer Team, SKANSKA CONSTRUCTION UK LIMITED and HW Martin (Traffic Management) Limited we developed and trialed a new dynamic journey time traffic sign for use in temporary traffic management. Information from customer engagement has shown that road users typically trust electronic signs more than ‘plate’ signs and the information provided by a journey time sign takes the uncertainty out of a situation where a customer may be unfamiliar with a diversion route. The system offers: • Quick deployment times (2 mins additional to a standard sign) • Ease of transport and installation (a small panel easily transported in a small van or car that connects to a standard frame) • Approved by National Highways • Accurate journey time data updated at intervals we recommend • GPS located • Motion sensor to detect tampering and ensure signs are visible • Connected by multi-network sims for the best connectivity in the field • Long run times on rechargeable batteries • Data available for further analysis The system provides a practical solution to provide real-time data even on a one night closure. The trials will continue over the next 4-6 weeks and the experts at Arup and AECOM will continue to review the data Drop me a line if you would like more information.

To continue our support within the the local community, we have been working with the team at Headon Hall community centre in Stifford Clays #Thurrock. Headon Hall is a community centre that is used by multiple groups throughout the week, which includes a weekly visit from a community group with elderly people that unfortunately have dementia. The staff at Headon Hall expressed that they would love for this group to get involved with gardening activities, however the garden was not safe for them in the current state. With this is mind we have been working with them to create a more inclusive and accessible garden space for the local residents that visit the centre. Our site team have done such an amazing job to completely renovate the garden by tidying, clearing, building raised flower beds and laying pavement slabs so that wheelchair users have more space in the garden to use. We finished off the project this week with volunteers from the Lower Thames Crossing to complete the painting and filling the beds with flowers and herbs. The garden has been totally transformed, the before and after photos are amazing and the team at Headon Hall are totally over the moon with the end result. A huge thank you to Jake Shaw and team for all of your help in designing and managing this project. Also special thanks to L Lynch Plant Hire & Haulage HW Martin (Traffic Management) Limited and Speedy Hire for all of your generous donation and support this project. And a big thank you to Nick Chandler and team for all their hard work and to the volunteers that took part – Callum Battersby Stuart Cable Annabel Dunn Luke Adam & Tom Reynolds.
