50% of teachers say problems of children not being ready for school are now worse than in 2022, with a quarter of pre-school children not having basic language skills.* That’s why we’re asking for your support for Wellies in the Woods – our mission to provide opportunities for families in some of the most deprived areas of the country who would otherwise be excluded from the benefits of nature to enjoy a safe haven where they can connect, learn, and grow together. As a charity, we need your help to make this happen. Please consider setting up a regular gift today of £10 a month to help us purchase wellies and other outdoor protective clothing to help children take part in Wellies in the Woods sessions across the UK. https://lnkd.in/eJGnasZz *School Readiness Survey

Thank you to our partner Veolia UK and their graduates who have continually supported us with their fundraising challenges! You can still donate here: https://lnkd.in/eKfNsiWf
Last week, myself and my fellow Veolia UK Graduates completed our Charity challenge in aid of Groundwork! We set ourselves the challenge of walking across London spelling out "VEOLIA" in Strava art. It was a great day for a great cause. Children and families are facing a play postcode lottery, with some parts of the UK having such a lack of safe places for our children to play there is the equivalent of over 900 children per playground in their local area.* That’s why we’re asking for your support for Wellies in the Woods – our mission to provide opportunities for children and their families in some of the most deprived areas of the country who would otherwise be excluded from the benefits of guided outdoor play to enjoy a safe haven where they can connect, learn, and grow together. As a charity, we need your help to make this happen. Please donate £25 today to help us purchase books and play equipment for children to use at Wellies in the Woods sessions across the UK. https://lnkd.in/e-wV9aX9 *Association of Play Industries Report

We’re incredibly honoured to have been nominated for the Charity Collaboration of the Year Award at the Charity Times Awards for our work on the New to Nature programme! 🎉 Although we didn’t win, it was fantastic to celebrate the achievements of New to Nature with our amazing partners: Groundwork, The National Lottery Heritage Fund, The Prince's Trust, Disability Rights UK and Mission Diverse. We look forward to continuing to create impactful opportunities for young people and build a more inclusive and diverse environmental sector.

Although we were pipped to the post on an award, we're still celebrating. This has been an incredibly rewarding collaboration - working with an enlightened funder with a clear vision, programme partners bringing their specialist knowledge and networks to bear, and a wider group of host employers in the environmental sector, all demonstrating a commitment to learn and share. Of course most importantly it has given 95 trainees a year of paid work and valuable experience that will kickstart their careers and bring much needed diversity into the sector. Huge thanks to Andy Harrison Laura Bennett Jessica Rings Stacey Aplin Scott Harrison and the wider Groundwork team for making it happen, and to those we worked alongside Cleo M. Simon Campbell Tony Stevens Billy Knowles Drew Bennellick. This isn't the end - in fact it's just the beginning. We're working hard to build on the success and lessons from New to Nature to inform future policy and practice so that many more people can find work and contribute to a just transition to a low carbon and nature-nurturing economy.

A fabulous opportunity to get together with our #NewToNature partners at the @CharityTimes Awards last night. Having worked so closely on this collaboration for the last two years, it was great to be face to face around the table! https://lnkd.in/er_ivPaF
