We build, own and operate Waste-to-Value solutions for production of low carbon fuels and renewable energy

About us

Green Create Builds, Owns & Operates (BOO) integrated biological waste-to-value systems with the focus on production of low carbon fuels. We work primarily with anaerobic biological technology, which as a product of processing organic waste or wastewater streams, generates energy rich biogas. Green Create upgrades this biogas into many useful energy forms, such as biomethane, bioLNG as well as renewable electricity and heat. A by-product from the process is also the generation of solid and liquid fertiliser streams and in some scenarios reusable process water. Our mission is to treat and derive tangible value from large agricultural’s and industrial’s otherwise neglected waste streams. Our vision is to create a greener future by providing low carbon fuels to the transport sector and aiding in the reduction of global carbon emissions. We are officially listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange! The JSE listing is part of the process of Rainbow being unbundled from parent company RCL Foods Limited, a decision which was first announced in March this year. The unbundling represents a new chapter for us, offering our local investors a new investment opportunity. Our CEO Marthinus Stander expressed, “Stepping out as a standalone entity marks a significant milestone for Rainbow, carving out a unique and competitive position in the market. We aim to re-establish and rebuild our chicken and feed businesses as best-in-class in terms of customer-centricity, delivering value via innovation and leveraging our heritage. This bold move heralds a wave of exciting opportunities for growth in both our business and our people. Our commitment to a smooth transition ensures minimal disruption to our operations. We have robust plans to maintain stability and efficiency, continuing our tradition of excellence. We look forward to innovative developments in our product offerings, enhanced community initiatives, and a stronger brand presence.” #JSE #MoreThanJustChicken #WeAreRainbow

💡 📽️ What are the current costs of biomethane production? Matti Vikkula, Co-chair of Task Force 4, shares real industry data from a study conducted by Task Force 4.2 as part of their mission – to understand today's biomethane production costs and strategies for future cost reduction. The biomethane production sector has been marked by varying cost estimates from different sources. To provide clarity and support biomethane growth, TF4.2 designed and conducted a first-of-a-kind data collection process to gather valuable industry data in a strictly confidential and anonymous way. The study captured data from more than 10% of EU biomethane production. Below some key findings: 🌱 The total feedstock related costs are €35-45/MWh on average 🏭 Economies of scale significantly impact capital and operational costs 🔄 Biomethane production costs average €87/MWh for ~540 Nm3/h plants, decreasing to €54/MWh for >1200 Nm3/h plants. With a clearer understanding of production costs, prospective investors can make more informed choices regarding investments in biomethane production. Likewise, existing biomethane producers and industry players can benchmark their own costs, identifying areas for improvement and enhancing operational efficiency. We would like to thank the co-chairs Matti Vikkula, Jean Marc Brimont, Galin Gentchev, the rapporteurs Leo Gray and Kees van der Leun and all the TF4.2 members who made this study possible. Kees van der Leun will present on the key findings of the study during the European Biomethane Week. The comprehensive material produced for the study will be published thereafter. 📽️ Watch the video below 👇 #Biomethane #RepowerEU

Biomethane production delivers considerable positive externalities to the communities where it is produced ensuring investments in the value chain fully revolve in the EU economy. The #EBAConference 2023 was the occasion to unravel biomethane economics, analysing impact of local incentives, added value for communities and contribution to strategic autonomy. 🗣️ Lively exchanges this morning with Kees van der Leun (Common Futures), Stefan Rauh (Fachverband Biogas e.V. / German Biogas Association), Jesse Scharf (ERGaR European Renewable Gas Registry aisbl), Anthony Lorin, and Tom van Essen (Green Create). #EUBW #biogas #biomethane Biomethane Industrial Partnership

📣 In the framework of Task Force 1 of the Biomethane Industrial Partnership, the European Commission has recently prepared biomethane country fiches for each Member State to assess the existing biogas and biomethane production levels with sustainable biomethane potential compared to the share of their 2021 natural gas imports. The fiches also contain specific key messages for each Member State 💡 The biomethane country fiches are published to encourage and facilitate increased collaboration among Member States and/or industry stakeholders, especially in light of the ongoing process to update the National Energy and Climate Plans. Only through collaborative efforts can we reach the 35 bcm target by 2030! 🌱🙌 https://lnkd.in/egUdaNny

The European Parliament has formally adopted the revised renewable energy directive (RED III), which sets out to boost the target percentage of final renewable energy consumption from 30% to 42,5% by the year 2030, utilizing multiple mechanisms across the various stages and sections of the renewable value chain. According to EU energy commisioner Kadri Simson "Approximately 130GW of renewable projects are waiting to receive a permit in the EU. These projects alone would represent around 30bn m3 of gas savings and 36mn tons of coal savings". Other notable updates include, but are not limited to, reduced permitting time for renewable projects, driving innovation, and facilitating requirements for importing renewables. #REDII #REDIII #biomethane #repowereu #GreenCreate
