On #WorldHepatitisDay, we’re pleased to share that our Achieve Recovery Services have micro-eliminated hepatitis C (hep C) in Bury! 🎉 This landmark moment comes after years of partnership-working to make sure that all who are at risk of hep C in Bury and beyond are tested and treated for the condition. Andrew, 48, was referred to Achieve Bury for hep C testing, and went on to receive treatment. He said: “I am now completely cleared of hep C and all the health risks it exposes, which is a great relief. “The staff at Achieve are nice and helpful. I’ve built up a good relationship with the staff and I have regular follow up appointments. “Achieve also offer to test for Hep C every six months or so to ensure that the virus hasn’t returned. “I really want to get the message out of how easy the hep C screening and treatment is, with Achieve’s support. I’d absolutely recommend it to others.” Tonya Nettleton, Team Manager at Achieve, said: “We are delighted to announce that hep C has been micro-eliminated across Bury. This amazing achievement could not have happened without the support and efforts of all our brilliant community and public sector partners. “We work closely with Hep C U Later to regularly review the testing data across Bury, Bolton, Salford and Trafford, and continue to provide support to those we know to be high risk. “If you or someone you know could be at risk of hep C, help is available." 🏗️🏥 What a brilliant morning yesterday for our #CPD Site Study of North Manchester General Hospital North View Development in partnership with DAY Project Management (Karla Heywood LLB (Hons)) and The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). North View is the £105.9 million state-of-the-art unit, run by Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust that will replace the current Park House adult mental health inpatient unit on the North Manchester General Hospital site. Attendees heard from project managers, Jack Street and Qasim Ramzan MCIOB MAPM who are overseeing the scheme and also from Deborah Goodman from Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust who provided a clinical perspective. The group joined in a site tour led by #IHP joint venture members: VINCI Building UK and Sir Robert McAlpine - thank you to all involved and to our committee member, Marion R. and Karla Heywood LLB (Hons) for organising such a great event. 🏗️🏥 Women in Property | #wipnw24 #cpd #sitestudy #GMMHImprovingNorthMcr #DAYPM

North View really is more than just a building!! What a great Hospital Tour I went on yesterday, organised in collaboration with Women in Property | DAY Project Management and Fairhurst Architects - part of the Bond Bryan Group | Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust Thank you to Jack Street and Qasim Ramzan MCIOB MAPM, I was quite taken aback yesterday by the degree of sensitivity, thoughtfulness and collaboration on this project. And your presentation style was excellent!! Replacing the existing Park House which is part of North Manchester General Hospital, the new hospital focus will be on ‘planning for recovery’ which is in line with trauma-informed practice. Service users have been continually consulted at vital junctures of the project and a compassionate approach has been taken with regards to the design of the building. A great team has been put together which includes clinical staff who advise and guide on service user needs and how this aligns with the building works. Designed with tick-shaped buildings, allowing 360-degree visibility to ensure service user safety and thoughtful landscaping which is intrinsic to the scheme. The 2 million being allocated for external works has been deemed essential in the recovery of adults with mental illness. As part of the works, there is also a secure rooftop courtyard. Currently, 75% of people who come into the services share a dormitory, hence the need for the 150-bed upgrade. Due to the complex needs of service users, it’s essential for their healing that they have their own space. The scheme includes good-sized single bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms. Additionally, there is a quiet /calm room. There has been strong product development on-site to ensure the safety and durability of all fixtures and fittings. This building is clearly a labour of love (in the most positive sense), and has been designed and built to reflect the modern world we live in and what we now know about mental health. All who have worked on this project must feel very proud. Well done!
