Last week - participated in the HL7 events in Atlanta, GA, USA. In addition to progressing the #FHIR #ePI IG with #IDMP by Uppsala Monitoring Centre in the HL7 Vulcan #Connectathon we presented some recent Gravitate-Health achievements, specifically the #G-lens focusing mechanisms and the #AI powered summary lens. One important element of seamless cross-border care relates to the translation of prescriptions and medication lists. In a recent video, Anne Moen, Professor in Health informatics and Nursing at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo; and Project Coordinator of Gravitate-Health, a US and Europe-based public-private partnership whose goal is to empower citizens with digital information tools, discusses her organization’s work on electronic product information, or ePI, in connection with the #InternationalPatientSummary (IPS) and the Identification of Medicinal Products (IDMP), to address the challenges posed when travelling patients are prescribed medicines in another language. She also explains how the project, which is developing an open-access platform and services, incorporates information from the IPS, along with info from other sources, and in a variety of formats such as video and photos. It’s a great example of how the IPS is serving as a springboard for organizations and vendors to build upon and to use in developing products that address the needs of patients in a highly mobile world. The ePI/IPS is also the topic of a track at the upcoming HL7 FHIR Connectathon 37 in Atlanta on September 21-22, where participants will test the creation, exchange and display of ePI in connection with the IPS and IDMP. This event is part of our ongoing virtual meeting series, supported by the HL7 FHIR Vulcan Accelerator.   When we embarked with the kick-off of the Technology Community last year, our vision was to collaborate and contribute to achieving over 80% electronic product information (ePI) across Europe by 2025. Through the collaboration between Gravitate-Health and the HL7 Vulcan Accelerator, we engaged stakeholders with expertise in Structured Content Authoring, Conversion tools, and consumers of ePI.
