Recently, we had the opportunity to visit the 'To You' depot for a tour of their facilities. This enlightening experience reinforced the importance of continuous improvement in all aspects of our operations. Our hosts, CPM, are committed to Kaizen philosophies, holding quarterly meetings with representatives from CPM UK, Granby, To You, and HH Global to review successes, identify challenges, and collaborate on solutions. Our Client Services Manager, Kayleigh Scott, found the session particularly relevant. "CPM introduced us to Kaizen, which was new to me, although we have previously held similar meetings focused on improvement and lessons learned," Kayleigh said. Kaizen emphasises making small, positive changes over time for long-term success. At Granby, we already apply many Kaizen principles across various areas, including operational efficiency, customer service, supply chain management, and quality control. This aligns with our values of being solution-focused, collaborative, and supportive. By making incremental improvements, we aim to enhance our processes and outcomes, ensuring sustained growth and efficiency. #ContinuousImprovement #Kaizen #OperationalExcellence #Collaboration #CustomerService

This week, Owen Harris from the Granby Business Development team was back at the #NEC in Birmingham for the Processing & Packaging Machinery Exhibition. This event proved to be an insightful experience, offering thought-provoking discussions on the ever-evolving landscape of packaging machinery and technology. We are incredibly pleased to share that Granby Head of Client Services and Business Development, Victoria Pittman, continues to be in high demand as an awards judge within the industry. Her deep experience, professional approach, and diligence make her perfect for this role. Victoria's exceptional ability to work with people is invaluable, especially around a judging table. This year, Victoria had the honour of chairing a panel for the prestigious Service Business Award at the 2024 BIBAs. The BIBAs, Lancashire's Premier Business Awards, is a celebrated event organised by the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce that recognises the best companies in the county. The worthy winner of the Service Business Award was Forest Group with Andrew Fraser MInstR. In the photograph below, you can see Andrew with Victoria – and the all important award - at the BIBAs ceremony which took place last Friday, September 20th, at the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom. Congratulations to Andrew and all the winners for their outstanding achievements at another fantastic BIBAs event! #BIBAs #BlackpoolTowerBallrooM #BusinessAwards #BIBAs2024 #ServiceBusiness #Judge #Granby

Demi Smith is the winner of the Granby Tallest Sunflower Competition! 🌻 Demi's dedication and green thumb have truly shone through. Moh Mall had the pleasure of presenting Demi with her well-deserved prize: a fantastic gardening gift set. Earlier this year, to celebrate Earth Day, we gave each of our employees a packet of Sunflower Seeds. The challenge? To grow the tallest! At Granby, we believe in nurturing interests beyond the day-to-day grind, especially those that encourage our colleagues to get out into the open air and enjoy nature. This competition was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to engage in a fun and rewarding activity, and the response was overwhelming. We had a heap of entries, and as a result, Lancashire gardens are now blessed with many more sunflowers than before! Whether it's gardening, hiking, or just a leisurely walk, getting outdoors is a fantastic way to recharge and find inspiration. #SunflowerCompetition #Gardening #OutdoorActivities #Community #FreshAir #NatureLovers

It's very much Trade Show and Expo season for Granby. After a successful visit to London Packaging Week last week, this week Owen Harris was back at the ExCel for this year’s eCommerce Expo. Owen was joined by our Head of Client Services and Business Development, Victoria Pittman. The team met up again with Emma Verkaik at the BCMPA stand as well as many other suppliers and partners, exploring eCommerce collaborations. As ever, there were plenty of opportunities to hear about the latest innovations, including a particularly valuable session on 'Post Purchase: Optimising the Delivery Experience.' This session explored the opportunities and risks of adopting AI and emerging tech for SMEs in the world of eCommerce, and covered the advantages of integrating exporters, logistics providers, and e-commerce platforms. Speakers included Grace Thomson, UK Public Affairs Lead - The Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade, Stacey Van Den Aardweg from Amazon and Benjamin Lang from #Shopify. Victoria Pittman shared her thoughts: "All in all, this was a great show—particularly for us, where more and more of our business is around eCommerce solutions." Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to explore and innovate in the eCommerce space! #Granby #eCommerceExpo #TradeShowSeason #Innovation #Collaboration

Last week, Owen Harris of Granby’s Business Development team, was in London at ExCel for London Packaging Week. Owen was able to meet up with Emma Verkaik from BCMPA for fruitful discussions on our membership and the BCMPA network, as well as sharing news on upcoming events from Granby. This year’s LPW was focused on defining the future of packaging. There was a clear focus on four specific markets – luxury, beauty, drinks and FMCG - all of which Granby have a hands-on interest in. Owen was busy at the #ExCel, managing to catch up with other #BCMPA members and looking at ways of mutual support - especially around the delivery of complementary services. These collaborations can make projects easier to execute and add real value for our clients. Over the two days we were able to attend a number of speaker sessions including one on 'Conscious Creations: Inclusive packaging designed for everyone', chaired by Waqas Qureshi,, with valuable and really insightful contributions from Nestlé, Unilever, the The Pack Hub and Touch. All in all the event was a great package! And there’s lots to think about and plenty of action on the back of it. Congratulations to the Packaging News team on putting together such a terrific and valuable show. #LondonPackagingWeek #PackagingNews #ExCel #ContractPacking #Packaging #InclusivePackaging

Granby is thrilled to welcome Jack Hurst, our new #apprentice, to our client services team! 20 year old Jack is new to the business world but brings his own unique blend of experience and enthusiasm to Team Granby. Jack will soon start a Business Level 3 course at Blackburn College (UK). He also has some great experience studying IT and Public Services as well as a spell working with animals – for whom he has a real soft spot. At Granby, Jack has the help and support of our apprentice from last year, Declan Talbot, who will show him the ropes. Welcome to the team, Jack! We’re excited to have you. And, for all visitors to Granby, look out for Jack at reception! #WelcomeJack #GranbyTeam #Apprentice

Terrific event. And great to see Owen Harris taking Granby to the world! Really strong show this year. We managed to catch up with Waqas Qureshi as well yesterday, who hosted a tremendous session on inclusive packaging. This proved to be a really insightful debate around the challenges posed in balancing sustainability, inclusivity and costs in the development of inclusive packaging.

I had some fantastic conversations about how we can support each other in the packaging and logistics industry at London Packaging Week yesterday. As a member of BCMPA, it was great as always to catch up with Emma Verkaik from BCMPA who were exhibiting at this Expo! I also had the opportunity to attend some fantastic speaking sessions that focused on sustainability and luxury branding within packaging. These sessions provided a lot of food for thought on how we can innovate and improve in these crucial areas. Looking forward to implementing some of these ideas and continuing the conversations with all the amazing people I met!
