We have a new website! It’s been a labour of love. There are new projects – including our Pi6 and Pi8 earbuds for B&W – along with lots more content for all the other projects. We’ve dusted down old prototypes, models and drawings to tell the stories of the many products we’ve worked on; we’ve added video content and there’s a new section to introduce our design process. We’re delighted to announce the launch of our new Pi6 and Pi8 earbuds for Bowers & Wilkins. They are the culmination of over three years of work. We started the project with a huge anthropometric and ergonomic study to improve the comfort and fit of the earbuds for users across the world. At the same time, B&W were working intensively to define the acoustic and electronic constraints. We collaborated with the B&W team to refine the forms and detailing through many hundreds of prototypes – creating earbuds with best-in-class comfort and sound quality. The two ranges are linked by a common ergonomic platform, but with distinct visual identities and colour palettes to suit their different performance levels. Well this is exciting! We've more good news to share: Our Px8 headphones for Bowers & Wilkins have won another award. This time it's a prestigious Red Dot Award. We are very lucky to have been able to work with the brilliant Bowers & Wilkins team on these products... We started the design development of the Px8 and Px7S2 products during the first Covid lockdown. To say it was tricky to design products so dependent on comfort during lock-down is an understatement! The challenge was not only the ergonomics (although the differences between people’s head sizes and shapes across the globe is significant) the challenge was doing that whilst also incorporating the acoustic requirements, electronics/battery technologies, antenna constraints, cost pressures and realities of manufacturing – and all within a package that was smaller, lighter and more desirable. Through hard work and in close collaboration with the team at @bowerswilkins we feel that we managed to hit the nail on the head. And it seems that the iF Design judges agree as they’ve seen fit to award us a prize for both the Px8 and Px7S2e products.
