Unlocking the power of theatre for young people

About us

Go Live Theatre Projects (Formerly Mousetrap Theatre Projects) is a charity that uses the power of theatre to create inspiring experiences and unlock possibilities for young people. We open the doors to London’s world-class theatre to children and young people who have fewer opportunities, through highly subsidised theatre trips and specialist support for those who are disabled and neurodiverse. We run theatre-based education workshops in schools and community settings across London, providing a safe, fun, space for young people to discover new talents, express themselves and build creative and social skills. Children, young people and their families enjoy shared experiences and special memories and learn that London theatre is a place where they can belong. Young people gain greater awareness of different opportunities, the confidence to pursue them and transferable skills that prepare them for their futures.

  • We are absolutely thrilled to share that our Chief Executive and Founding Director, Susan Whiddington CBE, is a recipient of the Industry Recognition Award at this year's Olivier Awards. 👏 We are so proud to see Susan being recognised for her dedication to making theatre more accessible and creating opportunities for thousands of young people during her 27 years at the helm of Go Live Theatre Projects! 💙 Under Susan’s leadership, Go Live has pioneered relaxed performances, the first youth theatregoing club, our family theatre programme, a lively and engaged Youth Forum, and many ground-breaking projects serving young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. We want to congratulate Susan for this outstanding achievement and the other Industry Recognition Award Recipients: Sylvia Addison, Vereen Irving, Robert Israel, and Richard Walton. • Today is a bittersweet day for all of us at Go Live as it marks the ending of Susan’s wonderful, adventurous and rewarding journey as she steps down as Chief Executive of Go Live Theatre Projects. Here is a message from Susan: “Since I started in 1997, I truly have loved every day at this fantastic charity. I’ve been privileged to work in partnership with the most caring, inspirational and committed colleagues, past and present, and am extremely proud of all we’ve achieved as a team. I owe a debt of gratitude to our former Chair, Sir Stephen Waley-Cohen, who had the foresight to set up a charity to take young people to the theatre and the good luck to be asked to run Mousetrap Foundation for the Arts (as it was then!). In the last 18 months, I’ve also had the very good fortune to work with our dedicated new Chair, Charles Prideaux. As I look back on 27 years, there are so many highlights, but certainly one of them was hosting the first West End relaxed performance at Shrek the Musical in 2012 for families with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Last Tuesday, we held our 13th annual relaxed performance at Sister Act the Musical. It was a magical evening for the 365 families and 21 school groups who filled the 2,000-seat Dominion Theatre. Family members and carers sought me out to tell me how much these performances meant to their families. I was reminded once again, in the most powerfully emotional way, of the impact of our work in making theatre accessible to young people and families who would otherwise not be able to access it – the essence of our charity.” Please join us as we say farewell to Susan by celebrating everything she has achieved through our charity and sending her all our best wishes for the future! 💙 #SusanWhiddington #GoLiveTheatreProjects #GoLive #Theatre #TheatreEducation #AccessibleTheatre #AccessForAll
