The 850-acre estate epitomises the rugged natural beauty for which Scotland is famed and offers guests a glorious playground of country pursuits and activities. Whether you come to fly a Harris’ Hawk, ride horses, play tennis, go off-roading, train gundogs, shoot game, fish, enjoy Michelin-starred dining, or relax in an award-winning spa, Gleneagles offers a world of unforgettable experiences

We’re thrilled to let you know that Gleneagles was crowned Employer of the Year last night at the 2024 Cateys – an annual awards ceremony which recognises the finest operators and businesses in hospitality. Being named Best Employer marks the culmination of a five-year transformation of our employee experience. While Gleneagles has always focused on outstanding guest experiences, in 2019 we really began turning our attention to our team, setting out ambitious plans to demonstrate to everyone who works here that they are equally as important as our guests.     Since then, we’ve been overhauling the people experience, responding to the evolving needs of candidates and building a culture of care that underpins every aspect of working life at Gleneagles. This one is dedicated to every single member of our team, whose commitment and efforts are what makes Gleneagles such a special place.

100 Years of The Glorious Playground 🥂 100 years ago on this day, the 7th June 1924, we opened the doors to The Gleneagles Hotel. Our magnificent countryside estate in the heart of Scotland was described as a “Riviera in the Highlands” and the media hailed it “the eighth wonder of the world”. Cocktails poured from taps; lively dancing in our ballroom was broadcast across the nation on BBC radio; glamorous guests raced each other by land, air and sea to get here first; and princes, playwrights and poets spent entire summers on our croquet lawn in a haze of Champagne. Going into 2024 as a multi-award winning estate, we reflect on our history, spanning high times and wartimes and look towards the next 100 years alongside our inaugural Edinburgh home, Gleneagles Townhouse. Gleneagles beats with a warm heart and is a home from home – a welcoming place where our people and guests feel they truly belong. On our 100th Anniversary we thank everyone who has been part of our story so far, and our story still to come. #LoveGlen #TheGloriousPlayground

Last week we hosted our Advisory Board members from across the pond to experience the best of Glen, from countryside flair to life on the square! An action packed few days were enjoyed from meeting our Highland Cows, to handling our birds of prey, casting lines on Laich Loch and learning the ropes with our Gun Dogs. Next stop took our guests beyond the Ochil Hills for a tour of The Royal Yacht Britannia in Leith, followed by sundowners and sweeping city views in our city home, Gleneagles Townhouse ahead of an intimate dinner in The Spence. As we celebrate our 100th birthday this year, we’re proud of the hospitality experiences we’ve provided our guests for the past century, and grateful for Scotland’s breathtaking natural landscape which has directly contributed to our success. But we believe it’s time to look forward, to amplify our efforts in protecting these natural assets for future generations.  For this reason, today, we’re announcing our pledge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our value chain to achieve net-zero by 2040. We’re proud to be a gender balanced organisation, with women representing 50% of our team. But we know it remains a greater challenge globally for women to balance their work and home life. According to the European Institute for Gender Equality, for instance, the unequal share of paid and unpaid work is “one of the root causes of gender inequality in society as a whole and in the labour market specifically.” In the UK, it reported that women spend almost twice as much time doing unpaid work such as childcare and housework compared to men. This disparity is regarded as one of many barriers that women face in progressing in their careers. We recognise that all our people, whether female or male, have all manner of personal responsibilities, pressures and commitments outside of work. Whatever the commitment – whether it’s doing the bath and bed routine, the school run, the Saturday football practice, taking care of elderly relatives or keeping on top of the housework and life admin – we know the juggle our people face in balancing personal and work responsibilities is real. While hospitality will never be a 9-5 industry, at Gleneagles, we’ll always do our best to accommodate our people’s need for flexibility to give them more choice over when and how they work. As we gear up to Mother’s Day this weekend, and in celebration of International Women’s Day, we caught up with seven hard working mothers across our business (and their wee ones) to find out more about the pressures of the working mum juggle! https://lnkd.in/exHeYTWG #internationalwomensday2024 #womeninbusiness #womenatwork #workingmums #worklifebalance

At Gleneagles, we’re dedicated to nurturing the next generation of leaders though a range of career and learning opportunities, including our apprenticeship programme, which supports young people to develop the skills, experience and confidence they need to forge successful careers. After launching our new apprenticeship programme in 2022, we were delighted to celebrate the achievements of the first ever cohort who recently graduated from the programme. Having gained their qualifications, they have all taken on permanent jobs at Gleneagles, including Grant Anderson (pictured), now a qualified greenkeeper. Grant says: “I can’t emphasise enough how much I’ve enjoyed the experience; it’s beaten all my expectations. Greenkeeping is a labour of love. It’s physically demanding – like an intense gym workout every day – but in what other job do you get to share your workspace with deer, pheasants and rabbits every morning? When you see the golfers out enjoying the courses that you’ve helped to prepare, you feel nothing but happiness, pride and achievement. “I love the one team ethos at Gleneagles; we’re all here chasing the same goal, working together to deliver an outstanding guest experience. I’d like to work my way up the career ladder and Gleneagles is the ideal training ground for that. I’d love to think that years from now, the next generation of apprentices will be able to learn something from me and I’ll be able to give them the same experience I’ve enjoyed.” As we celebrate #ScottishApprenticeshipWeek, we’re thrilled to announce that applications are now open for our next intake of apprentices – in Hotel Operations, Culinary and Greenkeeping. If you’ve got the passion to succeed, are seeking on-the-job training coupled with a formal qualification, and are looking to unlock your talent and potential, we’d love to hear from you! We’re incredibly proud to hear we’ve been recognised in The Times and Sunday Times’ list of the 100 Best Places to stay across the UK. We’re celebrating triple success, having been named Hotel of the Year, Scottish Hotel of the Year, and Countryside Hotel of the Year! The Times and Sunday Times’ guide praised our exceptional team for their service and attention to detail describing “a feeling of relaxed contentment among the guests – many of whom return over and over again, bringing children and grandchildren with them to experience the Gleneagles brand of fairy dust. Gaining this recognition in our centenary year is a huge honour.  For the past 100 years, it’s our wonderful people who have created that magic for our guests, and we’re incredibly grateful!

Did you know that 7th June 2024 will mark exactly 100 years since Gleneagles opened its doors? Having first launched our hotel with a grand gala ball in our Ballroom 100 years ago, it’s only fitting that we kickstarted our centenary celebrations with another great shindig – a very special Great Scots Burns Supper in support of Social Bite; a charity on a mission to end homelessness. A wonderful evening of fine dining was enjoyed in The Ballroom, hosted by Fred MacAulay with a special appearance from guest speaker, Bob Geldof KBE, and world-class entertainment from Amy McDonald and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Auction prizes, kindly donated, ranged from an ultimate Monaco Grand Prix experience with David Coulthard, to seven nights in a luxury ski chalet in Morzine with an afternoon skiing with Eddie ‘the Eagle’, to exclusive memorabilia and artworks. We're thrilled to share that over £700,000 was raised which will be used to help Social Bite build two new Villages in Dundee and South Lanarkshire. The Villages comprise ‘NestHouses’, and we've been raising awareness with one on our front lawn this past week. Thank you to all our guests and collaborators for their support! #socialbite #homelessness #BurnsNight #fundraising
