five HUGE social media updates you need to know this week 👀💞💭💫 your social media tea is here, and it's piping hot... as normal, there’s SO many updates every week that I can’t always justify putting them into a carousel, so... here are the extra social media updates that didn’t make the cut 🧚♂️ 💬 TikTok introduces group chats to the platform, with users now being able to create group chats with up to 32 people. 🔙 Instagram is working on a throwback feed. 🧵 Thread is working on posts that disappear after 24 hours. 👾 Twitch rolls out video stories, allowing streamers to film 60-second videos in the app, or upload from their camera roll. This comes shortly after launching text and photo Stories last year. 👋 Substack now lets ANYONE with an account publish content on its platform, even if they don’t have a newsletter. 🚫 Adverts for Huel and Zoe that included testimonials from Steven Bartlett have been BANNED after The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) said that it wasn’t clear enough that Steven has business interests in both of the companies. 👯♀️ Meta Business Suite now allows users to add up to ten profiles at a time to seamlessly switch between them. 😢 CrowdTangle is no longer available. LinkedIn - and social media in general - is a highlight reel of everyone’s best bits. but you didn’t see the journey that it took to get them there. The failures. The setbacks. The redirections. so try not to compare yourself and your journey. instead take a step back and look at everything you’ve achieved, the things you are achieving and the things people will never even know about. you’re doing SO much better than you think 💜 P.S. what are YOU proud of recently? six HUGE social media updates you need to know this week 👀💞💭💫 your social media tea is here - and it’s piping hot - especially the Instagram tea... as normal, there’s SO many updates every week that I can’t always justify putting them into a carousel, so... here are the extra social media updates that didn’t make the cut 🧚♂️ 🚫 Instagram is working on blocking the ability to take screenshots in chats when media can only be viewed or replayed once. 👋 X, FKA Twitter, is testing the removal of like, comment and repost buttons from replies. 💸 YouTube is testing picture-in-picture mid-roll ads for live streams. 🎧 Instagram is now allowing users to link their Spotify accounts to save songs to a dedicated playlist on Spotify. 🪡 Threads is working on a custom feeds feature, allowing users to name the feed too. 🤓 Reddit is teasing AI-powered search features and paid subreddits. 🎥 Facebook looks like its testing two main chronological feeds, “Video” alongside the normal “Feed”. ❤️ LinkedIn is testing the ability for users to directly SAVE a post for later within the main post menu, with “repost”, “repost with thoughts” and “send as a message” under a “Share” button. ⚖️ X, FKA Twitter, is suing the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM), the World Federation of Advertisers and GARM members CVS Health, Mars, Orsted and Unilever after accusing them on an ‘illegal’ boycott of the platform. and that’s all for now folks!
