The Digital Information and Smart Data Bill will harness the power of data for economic growth, to support a modern digital government and to improve people’s lives. The Bill will put the National Underground Asset Register (NUAR) on a statutory footing to accelerate innovation, investment and productivity. NUAR will give planners and excavators standardised, secure, instant access to the data they need, when they need it, to carry out their work effectively and safely. The Geospatial Commission will work closely with industry over the coming years to consider the views of stakeholders as we develop, deliver and enact legislation and regulations, to ensure these are proportionate and practical. To find out more about what this means for asset owners, join us for a special webinar where we explain the measures in the Bill. We will run the same session twice: 🗓 Thursday 29 August 🕐 1pm to 2pm 🗓 Monday 9 September 🕚 11am to 12pm Register: 👇 https://lnkd.in/eYk_bPGc

We sat down with Steve Unger, Board Member of the Geospatial Commission to discuss the emergence of Large Language Models on geospatial technologies, the risks of standardisation and the groundbreaking projects being done by Steve’s team. If you want to know how geospatial is being placed at the heart of public sector decision making you can read about it here:

Leading the NUAR digital transformation programme at the Geospatial Commission – delivering £490m pa economic value
It has been great to work with the Government Office for Technology Transfer on the NUAR discovery project (to see if we should / could increase access to NUAR), and in exploring the potential international opportunities for NUAR. Their passion and expertise for maximising the benefits of government knowledge assets (such as NUAR) is inspirational. I'd urge anyone in the public sector to explore who they are and what they do - and then have a chat with them if they can help. They're a ridiculously friendly bunch. https://lnkd.in/eJHJcaGA
🗺The Geospatial Commission (GC) has created a digital map of underground pipes and cables called the National Underground Asset Register. ✅We paid them a visit to find out from Chris Chambers and Richard Duffield how the GC have used funding and advice from GOTT to explore potential new uses for this valuable Knowledge Asset. 🎥Watch this short film to find out how they're looking to maximise the societal and economic benefits of this exciting Department for Science, Innovation and Technology family project!

Today we have published our new Data and Information Plan, which sets out how we will continue to develop our data and information over the next 3 years and beyond. We are committed to increasing opportunities that enable others to use our data and information to make better, evidence-based decisions. We also plan to use the information we capture through our activities available online and actively support initiatives that encourage others to innovate with our data. Take a look at the plan here: https://lnkd.in/eusitH_9 #Data #Information #DecisionMaking #Innovation Geospatial Commission

This spring we will be publishing the National Underground Asset Register (NUAR) Data Model that supports a standardised representation of underground asset data from hundreds of different organisations. To celebrate this milestone, we are holding two 1-hour webinars hosted by NUAR Technical Product Owner, Neil Brammall PhD. The session will give you an overview of the model, its development and the opportunities it presents. Some technical knowhow would be beneficial, but anyone is welcome and you can sign-up for either slot below, as they will both cover the same content: 12pm to 1pm, Friday 3 May - https://lnkd.in/eDeaAzt8 10am to 11am, Wednesday 8 May - https://lnkd.in/eUCwar2z
