Ahead of the official opening tomorrow, we were invited along to The Pavilion, an impressive new community hub and activities centre. We were blown away by the transformation since Gentoo colleagues volunteered to tidy the grounds back in March. We were delighted to donate garden games for the young people to enjoy over the summer and thanks to our Aspire grant programme, the project was able to purchase picnic blankets, picnic boxes and fun toys to giveaway tomorrow ⚽️🏓 Our Chief Executive Officer Louise Bassett (FCIPD) said: "Through Karen Noble’s vision, determination and passion to support young people she secured more than £600k of funding to make this happen and it was inspiring to see the finished building yesterday. This is a fantastic example of philanthropy in action." The hub will provide a range of community-led educational, recreational, social and health based opportunities for all ages and abilities, as well as working with the Connor Brown Trust to promote positive activities amongst young people. Well done to everyone involved in bringing this park pavilion back to life. We're looking forward to seeing the hub in action and seeing the benefits it provides to our customers, neighbourhoods and communities 👏

Gentoo colleagues have had a fantastic week taking part in SHINE (Social Housing Innovation North East) projects as part of NWG (Northumbrian Water Group) Innovation Festival held at Newcastle Racecourse. Projects colleagues have been working with partners across the sector to develop include a shared GIS map that would support collaborative working across the social housing sector in the North East. The festival has hosted a variety of exciting workshops and stands from many different business areas, while some Gentoo colleagues even had a go at experiencing life as a Formula One pit lane crew, trying to record the fastest time for tyre changes! Adam Stanley, Surveying Services Manager, said: “Everyone is looking at working closer together to make a difference in our communities. And we hope that working in collaboration across the sector can really drive value for money through examples such as joint procurement ventures.” #Innovationfestival24 #WeAreGentoo

The Fans Museum have recently completed a roadshow of our sheltered housing schemes ⚽️ The museum showcased their rare collection of football memorabilia dating from 1884 to present day, across eight Gentoo sheltered housing schemes. We partnered with local schools including Usworth Colliery Primary School, Grange Park Primary School and St Cuthbert's Catholic Primary to give local children a chance to see the collection and interact with the residents. Residents and children enjoyed trying on shirts previously owned by iconic players from Sunderland including Jordan Henderson, Jill Scott and Jordan Pickford. Some amazing memories were remembered and created ️⚽️ ❤️️ You can hear from our Support Manager, Phillip Meek, founder of The Fans Museum, Michael Ganley, and Gentoo resident, Vera, in the below video 👇 You can also read more on our website 👉 https://lnkd.in/eip-NwhT #WeAreGentoo
