About us
Genius Within CIC are working towards a future where all neurodivergent adults will be able to maximise their potential and work to their strengths; where employers support their neurodiverse teams to thrive. It is our mission to ensure ND people with problems at work or in custody receive the diagnosis, coaching and support that they need. We have created the Genius Finder psychometric assessment tool to help employers provide reasonable adjustments and useful strategies to all of their employees without the need for diagnosis gate-keeping. We provide e-Learning, assessments, coaching, awareness training and In work support alongside social inclusion work and services for young people. Jacqui Wallis leads Genius Within as our CEO, as a proud dyslexic she is motivated to spread the message of neuro-inclusion. Our Founder Dr Nancy Doyle (a proud ADHD-er) is the founding member of a British Psychological Society Working Group, providing guidance to other Psychologists in the field. Nancy wrote a definitive guide to neurodiversity at work for the British Psychological Society and has contributed to many other publications and expert reference groups with organisations such as ACAS, ERSA and the DWP. Nancy’s research work in evaluating coaching and demonstrating a tangible impact from managers’ perspectives was commended by the British Psychological society, in their 2013 annual Occupational Psychology Awards.

Join Our Research Study: Your Participation Matters! A big thank you to everyone who has responded so far! To make this study truly impactful and contribute valuable evidence to performance appraisal systems that support neurodivergent employees, we need more participants. Why are we doing this? Easy. When done right: ❇ Performance appraisals can provide real insights into the contributions neurodivergent employees make. ❇ They will identify the most effective resources to help neurodivergent employees overcome obstacles. ❇ Appraisals will act like a GPS, helping neurodivergent talent navigate their career paths and thrive. ❇ They will equip line managers with the right tools to steer their teams toward success. ❇ They can help reduce turnover risk and intentions to leave by addressing the specific needs of employees. Finding the right coach is important! People often share with us their past experiences of coaching and assessments. When these have been negative it can leave them feeling nervous to try again. As a 68% neurodivergent company many of us have also experienced receiving services from people who were not #NeuroInclusive or experienced enough to give the right kind of support. In the last two years, I had to reflect and regroup plus make some changes in my life. Getting my assessment for Dyslexia and ADHD changed alot for me. Initially, I didn’t know how to think and feel. How well do you know yourself and the people you work with? Not so long ago I wrote down ‘What’s wrong with me?’ on a piece of paper. I then jotted down everything I struggled with, what made things worse, and then what I did to cope. Whilst it was meant to be an exercise just to “get things out of my head”, the process has helped me understand myself better than ever before and I am more aware of what I can and cannot cope with. I can also use it as a tool to help others understand and support me to be the best version of myself So now, instead of focusing on ‘What’s wrong with me?’ it’s more like ‘Who am I?’ Understanding ourselves and others is so important. No one wants to feel misunderstood or not heard, nor do we want to make others feel this way. However, we could all do more to be a better colleague, friend, manager etc. by seeking to understand more rather than making assumptions All of us have different brains that work in different ways and that is what neurodiversity is - it's all of the unique and different ways in which people think, process and act And rather than dwelling on what we struggle with, let’s not forget what we excel at as well We should all be proud to be who we are, and not feel as if we have to put on a front or try to change ourselves or our behaviour and actions to be like others or to please people. So, if you ever feel misunderstood, alone, or just a bit out of place like you don't quite fit it, remember - your uniqueness is something to celebrate, not hide. Pretending to be someone you are not is not only exhausting but it’s also unsustainable. We all have the ability and responsibility to create places of understanding and acceptance where people can be themselves By focusing on things like communication styles, giving clear instructions and environmental factors such as lighting and noise (as well as lots of other things) we can create workplaces where everyone feels valued and can be and feel their best That’s why I’m so glad to be involved in developing a neurodiversity training programme for the construction industry - to show people how they can do this and the steps they can take. I'm excited about the impact this will have and even more excited that we are only a few weeks away from launching the first phase.
