Our team over the years have changed but the support shown from my fellow colleagues has not. Catering can be a stressful and busy industry to work in but with the right support around you, you can change that and hopefully keep your teams spirits up and encourage them to keep going and give their all each day which I try to do daily in Gather & Gather. We want you to meet some of our incredible team members 🙌 but nobody is better than them to tell their story in Gather & Gather ⭐️Jennifer Mooney - General Manager, Sky I started with Gather & Gather Ireland as a Catering Assistant back in 2013. Throughout the years I was given opportunity to develop and moved through roles such as Supervisor, Snacking Manager, Assistant Manager, and today the General Manager at Sky.  I have always been a person who was dedicated and reliable. I entered back into the work force after having my son with no experience in hospitality and took to it eagerly as I liked working in a busy environment, and Hospitality & Workplace Catering became something I loved. I was able to discover a role which suited my personality and interests as I am outgoing and meeting people from all walks of life while providing a great service was something I was passionate about and wanted to keep developing in. None of the above would have been possible without the great encouragement and support from my Operations Managers within G&G, starting with Linda Brophy who was always rooting for me. Linda created opportunity and always supported me when it was needed. I then started working with Fidelma Lavin who continued to always mentor, support and guide me through all of my roles. I would also like to mention all the amazing female role models and managers I have worked with throughout my years in G&G. At Gather & Gather, we celebrate #EarthDay every day 💚 and we are so proud how our teams play their part 🌍 SKY team has created a zero waste dish with Irish cauliflower chop, house made apple sauce from leftover free issue apples. They used the cauliflower leaves as garnish. They also have hydration stations using repurposed fruits and teas 💚 LinkedIn team has their campus Tower Farm from GREEN TOWERS Ireland , which is now growing 612 leafy greens using 90% less water by recycling and using energy efficient led lights & we get to share it with you all in our amazing dishes like these delicious tacos 🌮 🌱 Indeed team uses all the leftovers trimmings into stocks and turning it into tasty dishes like the base of this ramen 💚🍜 CRH had their "G&G Grow-It-Yourself, in celebrating of Earth Day, they invited everybody to participate in the planting of wildflower seeds with their ready-made "Potting Kit" 🌱💚 Airbnb team gave sustainable hacks on zero-waste uses for spent coffee grounds, they also demonstrated how to make homemade chicken broth using remaining parts of vegetable and chicken bones and skin 💚☕️ 🍲 A great snack idea💡: Do you think that all vegetable peels must go to the bin? The winner of the 2024 CH&CO Chef of the Year has been crowned. A massive congratulations to Ciaran McGill, Head Chef at Gather & Gather Ireland for this incredible recognition🏆 For the final, the chefs were challenged to produce a starter and main course within two hours, meeting the competition’s sustainability-focused brief. The starter had to be plant based and the chefs were to use a whole herb fed free range chicken for their main. Upholding CH&CO’s top-level three-star Food Made Good rating from The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA), the overall menu had to also meet, wherever possible, the SRA’s One Planet Plate criteria of celebrate local, waste no food, more veg, source fish sustainably and low carbon footprint. The chefs showcased their skills under the watchful eyes of a panel of esteemed judges, including Anthony Demetre, Chef Patron of Wild Honey; Deepak Mallya, Executive Sous Chef at The Ritz London; Sabrina Gidda, Chef Consultant and author of Modern South Asian Kitchen and Michael Coaker, ambassador for the university of West London. Ciaran wowed the judges and took the title thanks to his menu of Spring Pea & Hazelnut Tart, Iona Farm White Turnip, Radish, Velvet Cloud Sheep Yoghurt followed by Herb Fed Free Range Yorkshire Chicken, Green Asparagus, Buttermilk Thigh, Truffle Mousseline Stuffed Wing, Wild Garlic & Celeriac. He was praised for his excellent technical skill and bold flavours. Jeremy Ford, CH&CO’s Food Director said: “What a final! Huge congratulations to Ciaran, a worthy winner against very stiff competition. The standards shown by all the finalists were phenomenal and I congratulate them all.” A big shout out to our worthy finalists Oscar Garcia Candelich, Simon Dennis, Sasha Todorov, Jeff Slater, Wayne Corbett, Simona Birova, Ludvina Hatert – thank you for your hard work, creativity and innovation.
