  • We've just welcomed Daisy and Mark Cowling back from their week working with Octagon at The Open. 🏌♂️   At Futures, we offer our team the opportunity to work at top sports events supporting Octagon. 2024 has been jam packed with action, with Bob Hayes, Lizzie Roberts and Ben Arthur at the Champions League, Ernest Teh and Isabella Farrell at Wimbledon, and Ted Croker and Shalina Nigam at Euro 2024. ⚽ 🎾 And the summer of sport continues with the Olympics kicking off today! Beyond on-site support, the Futures team has also leveraged their tech expertise for the Olympics and Paralympics with Lizzie, Charlie Reed and Chris Felstead all helping Octagon with their ticketing requirements. As well as providing tech support, Lizzie will be heading to the Paralympics in August to assist with on-site ticketing. For more details on the above, head over to our website https://lnkd.in/dy5hkAUb to read our recent round table discussion on how the team have found their experiences this year. • Belated congratulations to Lizzie Roberts for winning our Quarterly Award back in Q1 2023 👏👏👏   It’s been quite a while since she won her award, but her trip to experience the iconic IPL atmosphere sounded like it was worth the wait! 🏏   Lizzie was nominated for the award by many members across the team, highlighting the great work she was doing across multiple accounts and supporting several of our internal initiatives. Highlights included:   ⚽ Making a great impression on the client in her first full quarter on our adidas account and using her technical expertise to quickly improve our internal processes 🚗 Managing a large part of our Formula E scope and being instrumental in upskilling members of the team 🐍 Somehow still finding the time to support the team internally; leading interviews, helping run our Python Working group and managing our Graduate programme   She has since gone from strength to strength, being promoted to Senior Analyst since the award and continuing to develop her responsibilities within the team – including supporting our diversity and inclusion efforts and our women in sport work. Hers is a fantastic example for what a graduate career path could look like at Futures, and we look forward to seeing how her career continues to develop.   Watch this space to see what some of our more recent award winners have been up to. #JobsInSport #SportsBusiness #Graduates

I was very grateful to receive the Futures quarterly award in May last year, having been nominated and chosen by my colleagues 🙏🏏🌏✈⚽ After months of build-up, I was finally off on my travels to watch the IPL in India. I arrived in Jaipur to watch the Rajasthan Royals vs. Lucknow Super Giants for their first match of the season. The energy and passion for cricket in India was even greater than I imagined, with everyone we met obsessed with the sport. The Rajasthan Royals got off to a moderate start, before local favourite Samson stepped up to get 82 not out. The Lucknow Super Giants fell short of the 193 to beat, giving the Rajasthan Royals the win, to the delight of the fans. It was an electric atmosphere and one that I’m very grateful I had the opportunity to experience! I also managed to squeeze in an Indian Super League match - it was a high-spirited game featuring 6 goals and 2 red cards, which unfortunately saw the home team, the Kerala Blasters, lose 4-2 to East Bengal. It was a great atmosphere with over 23,000 fans of all ages cheering on the Blasters. A huge thank you to Futures Sport & Entertainment for giving me the opportunity to attend such fantastic events in an incredible country, and for creating a great initiative to reward and incentivise their employees. I look forward to hearing about what the next award winners choose to see!

  • The Futures Market Landscape Tracker in June asked England football fans who they thought held the most responsibility for the England men’s team performance.   The average respondent said the players have the most responsibility at 32%, equating to just under 3% per player on average. Meanwhile, England's manager, Gareth Southgate, took on 24% of the responsibility in the eyes of the fans.    With Southgate stepping down from his strong tenure after England fell just short once again in the UEFA Euro Final, speculation turns to the likes of Graham Potter, Lee Carsley, Eddie Howe and even Jurgen Klopp to take the top job. Who is best prepared to step into the spotlight?

On Thursday, Futures enjoyed a great team day, packed with productive sessions and valuable insights! The day included presentations from almost all of the team, learning about the amazing work they've been doing, goal setting for the rest of the year, and gathering feedback from the team. Our DEI session was particularly impactful, reinforcing our commitment to fostering a more inclusive and diverse workplace. To top it all off, we enjoyed a fun evening at Quiz Boxing, where Ted Croker and Chris Dales emerged victorious in ring 1 and Chris Felstead, Nathan Ingleton, and Ewan Morgan taking the top prize in ring 2! 🚀

  • The MLB was in town for the third London Series with the New York Mets playing the Philadelphia Phillies. Four members of the team, Nitharsan Sathiyalingam, Sam Randewich, Sam Marks, and Ziaul H. watched the second game of the series, enjoying a thrilling topsy-turvy contest which saw the Mets complete a surprise comeback victory to win 6-5 against the fancied Phillies. Both games of the series saw the London Stadium at capacity, a positive step in the MLB’s quest to grow its sphere of influence outside the USA. Alongside the international expansion of the NBA and NFL, we at Futures continue to track, with great interest, the expansion of these American sports across the world!
