#TheOutrun is now showing in the #US! After receiving rave reviews in the UK, the film – following the story of Rona through her addiction and recovery – we’re pleased to see it is now making its way around the globe! Directed by Nora Fingscheidt, the film is adapted from the widely acclaimed memoir of Amy Liptrot, which details the story of Rona and her journey from inner-city party animal to her new settings in the Orkneys working towards sobriety and recovery. To celebrate the film’s international release, Forward Trustee Lisa Bryer has written a blog about last month’s private screening event, where she hosted a Q&A session with Amy and Nora in front of Forward colleagues and friends. In her blog, Lisa discusses the importance of the messages in The Outrun and her own experiences of recovery and the film industry. Head over to our website to read her fantastic blog in full. https://lnkd.in/eXN-U6VS #OutrunFilm #SaoirseRonan #AmyLiptrot #NoraFingscheidt #Addiction #AddictionSupport #AddictionHelp #Recovery #Sobriety #RecoveryIsPossible #RecvoveryPosse #ForwardTrust

Did you know The Forward Trust run information sessions for external companies? ℹ️ These sessions have been launched to help break the stigma surrounding addiction and to promote good mental health within the workplace. In August, Shirley Smith visited the Hilton Hotel in Croydon to deliver one of these informational sessions to the hotel’s employees. The feedback we received was really positive and the staff there felt like they learnt a lot about destigmatising addiction and practising good mental health. ✔️ We at Forward want to help raise awareness around addiction and mental health in the workplace and believe that by running these sessions, we can: - Help break the silence that surrounds addiction in the workplace 🔁 - Provide clear information about addiction💡 - Suggest preventative measures the organisation can take💬 - Tell you more about the work we at Forward are doing🗣️ For more information or to book a session please contact [email protected] or head to the company support page on our website. ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/e4M8ukmD #HiltonHotel #Hilton #InformationSessions #AddictionSession #HRSupport #CharitySupport #CompanySupport #Fundraising #Addiction #AddictionCharity #MentalHealth #RecoveryIsPossible #ForwardTrust

TW: this post includes content about drug use that some may find distressing. We were kindly invited onto The World Tonight show earlier this month (16/09) by Jamie Coomarasamy to talk about the dangers associated with ketamine use. Deb Casserly, a mother who sadly lost her son to ketamine addiction, was joined by The Forward Trust's Darren Lacey. Darren provided an insightful account of how the use of ketamine is increasing, especially among younger people who are often unaware of the health risks associated with the drug. You can listen back to the full interview on BBC Sounds: https://lnkd.in/eHAGqFgw🔗 This story was first covered in The Times🔗 Our thanks to BBC Radio 4 for inviting us on the show. If you are worried about drug use, whether it’s over concerns about yourself or someone you love, you can use our free online chat service Reach Out, available 9-5pm Monday to Friday. https://lnkd.in/di3HWDaG #Ketamine #KetamineUse #KetamineDangers #KetamineBladder #Urology #DrugSupport #DrugChatHelp #DrugHelp #HarmReduction #DrugAddiction #DrugUse #DrugBereavement #RadioInterview #DrugPrevention #ActionOnAddiction #Recovery #RecoveryIsPossible #ForwardTrust
