Kick into the new year and empower a new generation of leaders. 🚀 Demand for our programmes is growing faster than our capacity. This year, we need to raise an extra £20K to keep giving young people these life-changing FJ experiences. Will you help us? Help us connect communities across London, and empower a new generation of young leaders. https://lnkd.in/eWBDVUDd

Since its foundation in 2011, Football Journeys has connected 1,300 young people across 44 different schools and youth centres, changing the course of their lives. The mission has been the same since its inception: providing young people access to self discovery, leadership and growing their network with like minded peers across London, reaching 19 boroughs thus far. We thank Alex for his dedication to empower young people through this vision and wish him the very best for his future endeavours. His legacy will live on. Football Journey's team.
Earlier this month I said goodbye Football Journeys - my passion and drive for the past decade - and handed it over to the incredible Carlos Salvador Joao and team. They say that founding a charity is like having a baby. Well if that’s the case I would say I’ve given birth to a beautiful being, gone through the relentless early years, and Carlos is the perfect parent to bring it into adolescence and finally give it some maturity. I feel blessed our paths have crossed and I know whatever happens now, FJ has been given the best chance to become something truly great. We’ve taken just over 1,300 young people on a journey, from 44 schools & youth centres, in 19 of London’s boroughs, and have been supporting them to believe in themselves, embrace the unknown and become leaders in their communities. It’s been inspiring and pretty mind blowing to be part of. In the future when I look back on my time with FJ I know what will stick out is the remarkable young people I’ve been lucky enough to work with and who have had a genuine impact on my life, and who I hope were impacted by FJ in some way too. They are the reason FJ came to be and have - without any doubt - been the motivation to keep going. To all the amazing people who have been part of my growth and FJ’s evolution over the years I say a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you. 🙌❤

WeAreEquinix UK teamed up with Football Journeys (https://lnkd.in/eyU6nPJw) with their accreditation process using Human-Centered Design. Football Journeys, are all about fostering unity among diverse young communities through football and filmmaking. Their mission is to break down societal barriers, combat prejudice, and nurture leadership and active citizenship. 🎬⚽ They understand that the future belongs to technology, and it's crucial for our youth to be part of this journey. Yet, in some of London's most marginalized neighbourhoods, access to tech resources and networks is limited. Here are some key takeaways when they visited our office in London: 🚀 The young participants gained confidence as they engaged with Equinix professionals in the tech space, something they might not have had the chance to do otherwise. 📱 Developed a proposal for a digital app to independently access their qualifications and connect with the wider community. 🌐 They got a deeper understanding of the tech ecosystem that underpins their week-to-week sessions. 💡 Equinix introduced them to exciting tech pathways and potential career opportunities. Since 2012, Football Journeys have worked with over 1,600 incredible participants and approximately 75 new students every year. Their goal is to ignite curiosity, foster connections, and promote personal growth through new opportunities. WeAreEquinixUK are exploring further opportunities to bridge the digital divide in the UK. A huge thanks to Stephanie Malka, Andy Castle, Ciara Cooney, Fran Carasco and Reuben Arthur for being our amazing panellists, and Carlos Salvador Joao and Hannah from Football Journeys!
