📢 A new report by Mario Draghi offers suggestions to reform the #EU and acknowledges the importance of #shipping for #Europe in maintaining international competitiveness in the coming years. The document highlights several critical points relevant to the shipping and #MaritimeIndustry, outlining various potential action items that will help shape the future industry direction of investment and #development 📈 ⚡️ Specifically, the report emphasizes how a fit-for-purpose regulatory and #taxation framework has allowed the sector to remain globally competitive in recent years, offering a strong foundation for the future. Moreover, the document recognizes that shipping is one of the most challenging sectors to #decarbonize, thus requiring significant #investments and special initiatives under the #ETS Innovation Fund. Estimates suggest that €40 billion per year will be needed from 2031 to 2050. 🚢 The report also foresees the #upskilling and #reskilling of the workforce to meet the demands of the #green and #digital transition, which will impact up to 250,000 #seafarers in the EU and as many as 800,000 globally over the next decade. #FONASBA and other industry associations, such as ECSA, look forward to working with the new European Commission to implement the valuable recommendations outlined in the report. 🚩 #FONASBA President Designate, Fulvio Carlini, visited the Federation's partners at Shipping Australia Limited, the largest #shipping association in #Australia. 🌊 Shipping Australia Limited actively promotes safe, secure, and #sustainable practices, as well as #GreenShipping, in collaboration with its members through various initiatives, committees and working group meetings. The association also maintains numerous contacts with other shipping organizations in #Asia and the #FarEast and has strong connections with its British counterparts, serving as a pivotal link between these three crucial maritime regions. As FONASBA, we are committed to helping our Australian partners strengthen their position in the Region and within the #ShipAgency and #Shipowner industry.
