The most pressing challenge for global executive leaders today is staying profitable in a difficult climate. But productivity and profit are strongly dependent on culture - which is never just one thing. It’s multiple ingredients carefully blended. Blend it right and you’ve got gold. Blend it wrong and it’s just lead. We call it #CulturalAlchemy. It’s a mix of art and science, and creativity is the vital activating ingredient. Curious? How is TikTok changing the way that we consume social media? Sima Aykin shares key insights from a Market Research Society (MRS) webinar about TikTok's ever-evolving landscape, and its impact on consumer behaviour.

📣 Exciting Insights from the True Global Intelligence (TGI) at FleishmanHillard UK! 🌍    As a member of the TGI team, I had the privilege of attending a dynamic webinar where we delved into the evolving landscape of TikTok and its profound impact on consumer behaviour. Here are some key takeaways from the webinar hosted by Market Research Society (MRS): 🗣️Leverage Social Media Freedom: Unlike traditional research methods, people express themselves more freely on social platforms, offering us richer insights. 📱The TikTok Takeover: TikTok is revolutionising social media with its engaging and entertaining content. Its algorithm and accessibility are unparalleled, influencing opinions and behaviours across various demographics. 🔎Shift to Social Search: A significant 20% of Americans now use TikTok as a search engine. This trend highlights the importance of creating informative and entertaining content that meets the search needs of our audience on platforms like TikTok. 📊Community Insights: From Runtok to Booktok, TikTok communities are rich sources of consumer insight. They reflect real-life trends and behaviours, providing valuable data for our strategies. We can tailor our messaging to resonate with these niche groups and gather valuable insights. 👩🏻💻Enhance Data Collection: Create clear research briefs and define our goals for data collection. Focus on how our audience talks about their lives and where these conversations are happening. 👀 Focus on Visual and Short-form Content: Invest in creating visually appealing and short-form content that aligns with current social media consumption trends. This will help us capture and retain the audience's attention. #FleishmanHillardUK #SocialMedia #TikTokInsights #ConsumerBehaviour #MarketResearch #TGI #TrueGlobalIntelligence #Innovation #DigitalTrends

Today the Labour Government launched Skills England – the new body bringing central and local government, businesses, training providers and unions to meet the skills needs of the country over the next decade. FleishmanHillard discussed how business and Government could work together to plug the skills gap at our ‘In Conversation’ event with Lord Blunkett last week. He noted that Skills England would be light touch and help determine what needed to be delivered and resourced on a national, sectoral or local basis. Core to success, according to Lord Blunkett, would be goodwill, being prepared to work together and to plan for the long term. #FleishmanHillard #InConversationWith

We were delighted to host a lively discussion on the changing world of work with Lord Blunkett this week. At its heart, our debate explored the agreement between those seeking and those providing opportunity in work and that it should be inspiring and rewarding for all. Insights and experiences were shared regarding the importance of inclusive leadership and working practices to ensure that we collectively benefit from everyone’s talent in the workplace. Thanks to all who participated. #FleishmanHillard #InConversationWith

Millennials take note 📝. A social media platform that harkens back to the good ol’ days of brightly coloured profiles, writing on ‘walls’ and live updates focused on what you’re ‘currently doing/feeling/thinking’ is here and has been hovering at the top of the app charts recently. It’s called noplace and while it’s mostly aimed at Gen Z, there’s a lot to be excited about: ➡️ Personalised/customisable profiles ➡️Topical tags (called stars) for community building around shared interests ➡️ ‘Levels’ - which add a gamification element and enable you to unlock more features as you go ➡️ Text-based updates - video/photo formats aren’t currently supported - REFRESHING! ➡️ Reverse chronological feeds ➡️ Content moderation - this is called out as a priority at noplace ➡️ Two feeds - one for friends, the other the global community ➡️ AI (not algorithms) will drive content suggestions and summarise missed activity When the app moved out of invite-only mode last week, equal parts curiosity and nostalgia got the better of me. Within in a few seconds I was customising my profile with stars and bright colours. As much as I enjoyed that part and am genuinely intrigued by the promise of a platform that aims to ‘bring the social back to social media’, I am quite possibly one of the oldest people on the platform at the moment. And with just three friends — noplace, founder, TZ, and my husband (who I convinced to join with me) — I have had had limited use for the Top Friends feature and, if you don’t count the post from my husband, my wall is otherwise empty. But I am not yet deterred! It’s still early days for the app. So, fellow millennials, my question to you is two fold: are you going to give this MySpace x Twitter mashup a try and (if you do), will you add me as a friend? #noplace #socialmedia

Gareth Southgate has received criticism for his ingrained conservative style of football, reflected by his cautious game management, however, let’s not forget where we once were. After a shaky start, can England continue to grow in the right direction? ⚽   Our Head of Sport & Entertainment Nick Palmer-Brown shared his thoughts with PRWeek on the mood around the England camp ahead of its Euro 2024 QF match – and how the comms strategy of the team, brand and manager has evolved alongside it. He states: “Recent success has rendered this England group a relative goliath of expectation, but before adding to the abundant criticism, it’s worth remembering our position a decade ago. Low expectations, lad culture, little love for the Three Lions.''   “Now, brands we might not have associated with football or men’s England team are showing up strongly, using sport as a vehicle for social purpose and, in a lot of cases, enhancing the cultural power of the team.”   Read more on the link below: https://lnkd.in/eDvvnAVh

Social and Innovation at FleishmanHillard UK

London > Amsterdam 🌍✈️ As part of the FleishmanHillard UK EMEA Connect scheme, I had the opportunity to visit the Amsterdam OPRG office. During my time in the office, I sat down for 1-1s with colleagues, diving deep into their work within the Social & Digital community. It was fascinating to see how their efforts align with and differ from my role in the Social & Innovation team. We shared insights, strategies, and best practices, enriching our collective understanding and approach. 🚀 One particularly impactful conversation was with a colleague who works on one of my biggest clients. Their perspective and tips were incredibly helpful, providing new angles to approach my work. I also connected with a colleague from the DE&I team, which is a personal passion of mine outside of client work. Hearing about their initiatives and progress was eye opening and a great way to provide my insights to the team, which I have gained from the London office. A major highlight was visiting one of my client offices. Meeting the clients in person led to some very positive and productive discussions. I personally believe, there's something uniquely valuable about face-to-face interactions that video calls just can't replicate! 🤝 Beyond work, I had the chance to explore the beautiful city of Amsterdam. From its stunning canals to its vibrant cultural scene, it was a lovely experience. Understanding the local working culture and seeing the city’s sights added a wonderful dimension to the trip. ☀️ This journey was more than just work for me – it was an opportunity for networking, learning, and personal growth. If you ever get the chance to apply for EMEA Connect or visit the Amsterdam office, I highly recommend it! #EMEAConnect #Networking #AmsterdamAdventures
