About us

The Fire and Blast Information Group (FABIG) is a membership group created more than 25 years ago in the wake of the Piper Alpha disaster. Over the years, FABIG has become a globally recognised centre of excellence for the sharing of technical knowledge and practical guidance on fire & explosion hazards. FABIG is one of the market leaders in the development and dissemination of state-of-the-art and authoritative guidance in the areas of hydrocarbon fires and explosions for both offshore platforms and onshore petrochemical plants, and FABIG is now progressively broadening the scope of its activities to cover all large-scale industrial fire and explosion hazards. The FABIG Membership currently comprises over a hundred organisations worldwide from a broad spectrum of the oil and gas industry; they include oil and gas exploration and production companies, consultants, contractors, regulators, certification/verification organisations, manufacturers, insurers and universities. FABIG covers the following technical topics: - Fire and explosion hazard management; - Fire and explosion risk management; - Fire loading and response; - Explosion loading and response; - Fire and explosion mitigation systems; - Detailed design guidance. FABIG carries out a range of activities for its Membership, including: - Development of Technical Notes (detailed design guidance); - Issue of Technical Newsletters; - Organisation of Technical Meetings; - Provision of 24/7 access to all technical resources through FABIG website.
