We’ve just hosted a group of dentists from all over the globe (and the smiles were off the charts!). Picture this; sleeping on a train perched on a bridge overlooking the Sabie River—talk about a room with a view. Our surprise bush dinner with wine and wildlife was a night to remember. But the adventure didn't end there. In Cape Town we had a special dinner in the cellar at High Constantia wine farm. Hot Water took us on a captivating 'sound safari,' leaving everyone with memories (and tunes) to last a lifetime. Cheers to a conference with a difference. Stopping illegal and destructive fishing methods like compressors and potassium is critical because they can devastate marine ecosystems, deplete fish stocks, and threaten the livelihoods of local communities. 🚫🐠 Joint patrols are an important tool in preventing and taking action against illegal fishing practices. In our co-managed MPAs in Indonesia, the local community surveillance groups (POKMASWAS) TOBUI'KU and TOGONG LANTO teamed up with the Directorate General of Marine and Fisheries Resources Surveillance (PSDKP) of Central Sulawesi Province and the Water and Air Police (POLAIRUD) for a joint patrol. 🚤 By working closely with local communities, the rangers successfully uncovered several violations involving these destructive methods.
