To ensure no food is wasted at Finnebrogue, we redistribute surplus edible food to our employees, charities and local community groups. Between April and June 2024, our donations to FareShare UK helped make 14,171 meals for disadvantaged people in Northern Ireland. In addition, we support the #holidayhunger programmes operated by Children in Northern Ireland, and are providing sausages and burgers to a local Youth Centre over the summer months, so that young people attending the summer schemes, get at least one warm and filling meal each day. #responsiblebusiness #finnebrogue #foodwastereduction

Finnebrogue makes history: the only Northern Ireland food producer to win a Grocer Gold award, not once, but twice! Finnebrogue has been named the inaugural ‘Employer of the Year (Supplier)’ at the 2024 Grocer Gold Awards, held at the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London. This prestigious accolade, awarded in recognition of outstanding performance, innovation, and excellence, places Finnebrogue in esteemed company, having triumphed over competitors Arla, Glanbia, Heck, and Heul. CHRIS OVEREND, FINNEBROGUE’S HEAD OF HR, EXPRESSED HIS PRIDE IN THE COMPANY’S ACHIEVEMENT: “This award underscores the transformative journey Finnebrogue has embarked upon over the last two years with our renewed People Strategy. It has become an industry benchmark, following accolades at the Irish News Workplace Awards for ‘Best Place to Work’, and ‘Best Wellbeing in the Workplace’ for two years in a row.” Read more about win: https://lnkd.in/euNSDTtc

Pupils, parents and teaching staff at three primary schools in Northern Ireland received a surprise visit from our Finnebrogue Food Truck at their school sports day this week. The children had participated in our province-wide competition, to design a balanced meal that included Finnebrogue sausages or burgers. Killyleagh Integrated Primary School were the overall winners for their vibrantly coloured salad burgers! St Patrick's Primary School Legamaddy and St Bernard’s Primary School in Belfast were second and third. https://lnkd.in/dxFKjfKP

It's #WorldWellbeingWeek and a year since we partnered with Insula Wellbeing to deliver an important part of our Wellbeing at Work initiative. Jessica and Sharon are counsellors at Insula Wellbeing and together they have carried out almost 300 mental health checkups at our sites. The confidential sessions are available one day and one evening per week to enable all colleagues to benefit. This World Wellbeing Week, we encourage everyone to prioritise their mental health. #wellbeing #mentalhealth #responsiblemployer

While it remains important in any aspect of manufacturing, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) in the food sector is critical for safety, compliance, and performance. Colleagues from technical, production, engineering, hygiene and across supply chain were reminded of this when they participated in a two-day on-site workshop. The RCA systematic process identifies the underlying causes of a problem or incident to prevent recurrence, which in turn enhances overall safety and efficiency in our operations. Thanks to our facilitators, Maggie Bland and John Etherington for a really valuable learning opportunity. #qualityassurance #finnebrogue #learninganddevelopment #continuousimprovement

Our Finnebrogue Summer Club is off to a brilliant start - lots of fresh air, stunning views and great company to lift mind, body and soul. In May, colleagues got warmed up with a 5km walk around the River Quoile in Downpatrick, an area of scientific interest. It is steeped in history with views over the water and scenic paths for wildlife watching. In June, colleagues climbed Slieve Doan, nestled right in the middle of some of Northern Ireland's tallest peaks. At 562m, it's still a worthy mountain in the Mournes - and although the overall climb isn’t a thigh-burner like Donard, the views are stunning with a 360° of mountains in all directions. The Summer Club is part of Finnebrogue's Health & Wellbeing calendar where an invite is extended to our fur-colleagues. #healthandwellbeing #bestplacetowork #finnebrogue
