What unique challenges do women face as they grow their careers and how to tackle them 💪 In a shocking poll, almost 7 out of 10 (69%) everywomanNetwork members don’t currently see themselves as future leaders... This exposes the unique challenges that women face as they navigate the corporate landscape, such as unconscious biases in the hiring/promoting process, limited flexible working options for parents, the stubborn gender pay gap, and a lack of visible role models to show that leadership is a tangible option for women. Have you ever passed the opportunity to move internally for a different role? I did. It was prior to #EY and I think I was not ready then (of this is what I told myself). I tend to overthink things, overanalyze all possible scenarios and talk myself out of things. What did change for me was when I had a very supportive boss who encouraged me to risk and take another opportunity. Don’t get me wrong, he was not trying to get rid of of me 😊 and he said: "we will really miss you but it’s a right moment to change and develop yourself in different field". And so I did (thanks Arthur Bryan Liesse for being my mentor and now a friend that really helped me to dream big). The last change of my role in EY I did myself 😊 This time I did not need encouragement; I just knew that DE&I is my dream job and I must at least try or I´ll always regret it. I was really happy to join the everywomanNetwork Champions panel some time back to discuss an important topic of: Tackling the challenges women face as they grow their careers - everywoman: https://lnkd.in/ebk3S6hF I encourage you to read this short article as my fellow champions share good insights and tips around the topic. What strikes me is that according to everywomanNetwork poll almost 7 out of 10 (69%) women don’t see themselves as future leaders. And let me be clear, its not about fixing women- it’s a about creating an environment that everyone can thrive and fulfill their potential. It´s also about mentorship (thanks Joanna Jankovic for being my amazing mentor), inclusive leadership, psychological safety and so much more. So yes, now I can see myself as a future leader and it´s also because I have supportive squad around me, both in work (Doriana De Benedictis) and at home (Hendrik Sandkühler).
