We are delighted to have advised ENSEK Holdings, a leading provider of digital transformation services in the energy sector, on their sale of shares to Centrica PLC The acquisition builds on the strategic partnership agreed between the companies in August 2021 when Centrica announced it intended to move British Gas’ domestic customers onto the Ignition platform 🤝 Mark Wood, Senior Office Partner at Eversheds Sutherland, commented: “It has been a pleasure to work with Jon and the whole ENSEK management team from their initial foundation in 2010 and over many years in supporting their legal needs and development , culminating in their successful sale to Centrica Plc. On 26 September 2024, Jocelyn Chow, our Partner and Head of Competition, Trade, and Foreign Investment, Asia, participated in a panel discussion at Lexology Live: Asia 2024 co-hosted by Lexology and Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) alongside leaders in the Hong Kong in-house and business community, including Andrew Tam from Dr. Martens, Brian Downie from MTR Corporation Limited, Ronald Cheung from Flexport, and Dr. Manoj Prabhakar Kulkarni from Johnson Electric, focusing on the impact of sanctions and export controls on global supply chains. A few key takeaways from the session: ⛓Supply chains reshaped by an increasingly complex global regulatory environment – Economics, geopolitics, economic and foreign policies, protectionism – all of these considerations are affecting trade regulation which ultimately affects supply chains. ⛓Questions from the Board – Supply chain risk has become one of the key topics in board room discussions. It also presents an opportunity for in-house lawyers to be part of the conversation! ⛓Getting up to speed – Supply chain strategies and internal controls designed a few years ago are most likely no longer adequate to meet the expectations of regulators, banks, customers and your other business partners. Refresh your supply chain analysis and understand where the pain points are, so that you can navigate them with the right solutions and support. ⛓Countries, parties, goods, services – Challenge your assumptions about what is “sensitive” or otherwise regulated – the landscape has changed. ⛓A global, risk-based approach – Focusing on prevention, detection and response, in-house lawyers play a key role in bringing together the key stakeholders and the right experts to ensure that appropriate systematic controls are in place, the key issues are escalated to the right teams for resolution in a timely manner, and the leadership can make an informed decision about the company’s strategy.
