Enviromena supports Red Sky Foundation at Durham City Run Festival 2024 Last night, Enviromena's Chief Commercial Officer, Lee Adams, donned his RED Sky vest and laced up his trainers to participate in the Durham City Run Festival 2024. He took part to support Sergio Petrucci MBE ❤️ and the Red Sky Foundation ❤️. Earlier this year, Enviromena partnered with the heart charity, which supports babies, children, and adults needing coronary care. Lee first met Sergio at the Great North Run in 2022 and has since participated in numerous challenges to raise funds for the charity. He said: "The Red Sky Foundation raises vital funds to help families with children born with heart conditions. I've supported this charity for some time, and as a company, Enviromena is fully behind it. We’re committed to providing defibrillators to local communities across the UK. Heart problems affect all of us.” To date, the charity has raised over one million pounds to purchase equipment and provide facilities and aftercare at the Children’s Heart Unit at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital, Sunderland Royal Hospital, and James Cook Hospital in Teesside. From funding state-of-the-art NHS equipment to installing defibrillators and offering CPR education sessions, the Red Sky Foundation is making a significant impact. There's still time to donate and make a difference: https://lnkd.in/evtcDXUX #TeamRedSky #DurhamCityRunFestival

Enviromena’s plans for a 150-acre solar farm at a site close to the M6 near Fillongley, have been thrown out by North Warwickshire Borough Council’s planning committee, going against its own planning officer’s recommendation for approval. On the same day the Chancellor made a speech making it clear that kick starting economic growth through planning was a top priority for the government. Reeves criticised a “status quo which responds to the existence of trade-offs by always saying “no” and wants to rectify the process as too many construction projects were being rejected due to local conflict. The proposed solar installation would have been capable of providing clean power to more than 16,500 homes every year, actively contributing to UK net zero targets by avoiding over 10,000 tonnes of carbon annually. The plans included a number of measures to deliver a significant biodiversity net gain, considerable landscape enhancements through tree and hedgerow planting, a community garden area and flood alleviation measures above and beyond planning requirements to support the wider area including Fillongley village in their battles against flooding. Mark Harding, Enviromena’s European Development Director, spoke on behalf of the application at the meeting and was surprised by the refusal, he said: “This has also happened in the same week that the new government confirmed that Ed Miliband, the secretary of state for Energy Security and Net Zero, granted development consent orders (DCOs) to three solar-based nationally significant infrastructure projects (NSIPs), totalling over 1.3GW of renewable energy generation capacity. The government wants to get the country building, and this is further proof that this council is out of touch with national policy. “Ultimately, we believe there are no valid grounds to reject our planning application and we will be taking this to appeal, at an additional cost to both the local authority and Enviromena, and delaying the deployment of this important green energy project.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/ez3jeeCm #solar #CO2 #Warwickshire

Enviromena secures £30m funding from Close Brothers #Energy for construction of 70MW #solar farm in #Essex The £30m deal, which includes a development and term loan facility, is part of a wider facility agreed with Close Brothers Energy in December 2023. The facility will be used to fund the construction and operation of #Medebridge Solar Farm near South Ockendon, a large scale ready-to-build project on 175 acres of low-grade agricultural land, the equivalent of around 70 football pitches. Once operational it will generate over 71,000MWh per annum, avoiding more than 13,500 tonnes of #CO2 emissions each year. Construction is already well underway, with completion expected in the summer of 2025. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eugg4vFq

Enviromena is proposing a 25-acre #solar project on the edge of the New Forest that could produce enough clean #energy to power approximately 2,000 homes - but the project looks set to be refused. The New Forest National Park Authority was among more than 300 councils and organisations in 2023 declaring a #climate emergency with local authorities scrambling to develop plans and strategies, stressing the urgency in tackling this quickly escalating problem. Since that declaration, this urgent action has dwindled to a snail’s pace, and if Enviromena's solar project is refused, it appears “hypocritical” as the Park Authority says it’s committed to tackling climate change on one hand while looking to refuse plans for a solar farm on the other.
