How can we accelerate the transition to low carbon homes? Katrina Young, Practice Manager, discussed innovative low carbon project ideas at the Ambient launch workshop, focusing on areas where data has the potential to significantly accelerate decarbonisation, emphasising the need to understand building specifics for effective localised decarbonisation. Katrina commented: “Having access to high-quality, granular data is key to driving localised decarbonisation in our homes and on our streets.” Armed with this data, we can create targeted campaigns that prevent panic purchases of new boilers and promote smoother transitions to #NetZero solutions. It can be hard to keep up with changes in the British energy sector. Ben Shafran, Head of Markets, Policy and Regulation, has you covered in his monthly ‘Watts the story?’ blog. Ben shares his take on some of the biggest energy policy stories from recent weeks, including: ⚡️ Going coal-free: The UK switched off its last coal power plant, marking a huge step towards decarbonising our energy system. ⚡️ Strategic Innovation Fund: £84 million was awarded to 12 innovative energy projects, including advancements in digital twin technologies. ⚡️ Heat networks: Decarbonisation of buildings through heat networks is progressing, but key regulations are delayed until 2026. ⚡️ Public sector decarbonisation: Inconsistent carbon accounting is slowing progress. A Carbon Regulator is needed. Watt are you waiting for? Click the link to read more: https://orlo.uk/2GpD7

Did you catch James Wallin, editor of Utility Week discussing Warm Home Prescription® (WHP) on the BBC's 'You and Yours' programme? "There are some trials around the country where the NHS is getting involved with the energy suppliers and they are prescribing a warm home. On the back of that prescription, the energy companies...or sometimes funding comes from elsewhere...are paying to insulate people's homes." Since inventing WHP back in 2020, we've been advocates of delivering better heat and energy outcomes for low income and vulnerable people to make their lives healthier and to ease the burden on the NHS. Have you switched your heating on yet? Because there'll be hundreds of people across the country who won't turn their heating on at all. We're committed to changing that. With proven results, WHP should be properly funded; we cannot afford to revisit this issue year after year. It’s time to put this debate to bed and provide targeted support that works. Listen to the show below. Want to learn more about Warm Home Prescription and how you can get involved? Contact Dr Rose Chard or Rebecca Sweeney to start your WHP journey. https://lnkd.in/ec2YqvK9
