How can the industry drive more efficient and sustainable plug and abandonment (P&A) operations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf? Last week, the 13th Norwegian P&A Seminar in Stavanger saw record attendance, bringing together industry leaders to address this challenge.   Representing Elemental Energies and Well Expertise AS Expertise, our Commercial Manager, Stig Seland, and Senior Project Manager, Roel Heusschen, joined the conversation to discuss the latest regulatory updates, technology advancements, and collaborative efforts.   Hosted by Offshore Norge, the seminar featured valuable insights from the Norwegian Offshore Directorate, Havtil- Havindustritilssynet, and the Norwegian Environment Agency, underscoring the need for increased collaboration, innovation, and experience sharing. With an estimated 250 platform wells and 50 subsea wells to be #decommissioned over the next decade, these discussions are more important than ever.   Learn more about our decommissioning operations today: https://lnkd.in/ektrZR-A

Last week, our Head of Decommissioning & Low Carbon, Julie Copland, attended the PACE - Plugging & Abandonment Collaborative Environment event at Austin University, Texas. This gathering of industry leaders explored global P&A challenges, driven by the growing demand for both offshore and onshore projects. Key discussions focused on innovative solutions being deployed in regions such as Australia, the Gulf of Mexico, and the North Sea, where techniques like geopolymer cements and through-tubing abandonment are enhancing project efficiency. The event also highlighted the vital role P&A expertise is playing in advancing carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects. Julie actively contributed to conversations on the importance of addressing legacy wells and utilising advanced monitoring methods to improve well integrity and optimise decommissioning strategies. As the sector continues to evolve, Elemental Energies remains at the forefront of innovation, driving collaboration and shaping the future of decommissioning. Attending the Offshore Energies UK Wells Conference last week offered a valuable opportunity to explore and discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of well operations.  With Nick Low, Principal Drilling Engineer, and Guy Foulger, Principal Wells Engineer, representing Elemental Energies, we engaged in insightful discussions with regulators, industry leaders, and wells experts on how wells technology is evolving to meet the demands of the energy transition. A key theme was the essential role wells play in driving forward operational efficiency and reliability. While challenges such as regulatory complexities and well integrity remain, our sector is already seeing success through innovation and collaboration. By embracing emerging technologies, the industry is enhancing the operational efficiency of the current well stock, as well as advancing efforts in well decommissioning, geothermal and carbon capture and storage. These innovations are accelerating real progress, making well operations more efficient and cost-effective for a balanced approach to the energy transition. At Elemental Energies, we’re excited to apply these insights, strengthen our industry relationships, and continue contributing to a future defined by innovation and excellence.
