Our flagship Schools Partnership Programme (SPP) is marking its tenth birthday this year by building upon its successful collaboration with GwE – a school effectiveness and improvement service that works alongside and on behalf of local authorities in North Wales. Since the beginning of SPP’s five-year collaboration with GwE, 244 schools from 46 partnership clusters – over half the schools in North Wales – have begun their review and continuous improvement journey. This has put the foundations in place for SPP to expand further and have a greater impact on learners across the region. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e6TrWQua

The climate crisis is arguably top of the agenda globally, but its impacts on education and the work we need to put into tackling them remains understated. It was fantastic to be joined by so many colleagues and peers at our Skills and Education Reception during the Labour Annual Conference 2024, and to have such rich conversations about improving education and skills that we look forward to continuing. Thank you to our speakers for your insightful and inspiring contributions: - Catherine McKinnell MP, Minister for School Standards (https://lnkd.in/erd5Qr6t) - Andrew Pakes, MP for Peterborough - Anna Smith, Deputy Mayor for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough - Leora Cruddas CBE, Chief Executive, Confederation of School Trusts. Catherine McKinnell MP voiced the need for a system that not only attracts teachers into the profession but encourages and fosters them to stay, and at EDT, we are ready and motivated to continue our work with the government to help tackle this challenge.

This week is #NationalInclusionWeek in the UK, a week dedicated to celebrating inclusion and creating inclusive workplaces. Founded by Inclusive Employers – of which EDT is a member – it is a call to action to organisations, leaders, teams and individuals. A key part of being an inclusive organisation is supporting our disabled candidates and employees, and EDT is proud to be a Disability Confident employer. To continue embedding best practice in our recruitment processes, we are pleased to be rolling out new disability awareness training and reasonable adjustment guidance for line managers at EDT very soon. Our internal inclusion and diversity (I&D) focus groups have also continued to provide supportive environments for EDT employees to share their insights about specific areas of I&D. Highlights have included group discussions on anti-racism; a series of information sessions about key figures of the LGBTQ movement during Pride Month; sexual harassment training; and sharing important updates and contributing to EDT’s Disability Confident scheme activities. We look forward to continuing to progress towards becoming a more inclusive workplace and creating a supportive environment for everyone at EDT.
