Education Authority (Northern Ireland)
Education Administration Programs
Our Vision: To inspire, support and challenge all our Children and Young People to be the best that they can be
About us
The Education Authority (EA) was created on 01 April 2015 as a new organisation responsible to the Department of Education (DE) for the delivery of education services to schools and youth centres across Northern Ireland. The work we do impacts the lives of tens of thousands of children, young people and their families every day. The services we provide are essential in supporting, encouraging and facilitating learning within our communities to develop generations of young people who are equipped to succeed in life and work in the modern world. As a public sector organisation, we must continue to deliver these vital services in a challenging environment of increasing financial pressure and under intense public scrutiny. EA is at the beginning of an exciting journey of organisational transformation and modernisation. Emerging from the five Education and Library Boards (ELBs) our aim is to build a new organisation which is focused on meeting the needs of all our young people equally, removing barriers to learning and ensuring equality of access to excellent education services so that every child can develop to his or her full potential.

The EA’s Communications Team was joined last week by Joel, a GCSE work experience pupil from Wallace High School. Joel learnt about the skills needed for a communications role, attended an EA Board meeting, and assisted with key projects. We would like to thank Joel for his hard work and professionalism, and wish him all the very best for his studies and future career. 📷 Photographed with Joel are Colin Hassard and Katie Patterson from the EdIS Communications Team.

The EA Commercial Procurement Service attended a Derry City and Strabane District Council (DCSDC) Sales Accelerator event at the Holywell Trust on Monday 30th September. The session on Selling to the Public Sector was an opportunity for local SMEs to learn about Tendering for Public Sector contracts. 🔍 📝 EA CPS representatives from the Minor Works and Fleet & Transport categories delivered a presentation on the wide range of Goods, Works and Services procured by the EA, and the opportunities open to SMEs and new traders in the Derry City and Strabane area. The CPS team would like to thank DCSDC for the invitation and to wish all in attendance well in their future endeavours! #EAProcurement

I am Jason Arbuckle and I am the coordinator of the Education Authority 'Reading through Teams' Group. I recommend the brilliant 'The View from Down Here' by Lucy Webster. The most honest and open book you will ever read. Both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Every educator and parent and indeed every individual must read this. As a father of a daughter with invisible disabilities I now know why she insisted I read it. Bring tissues! 😭 #BookWeekNI Libraries NI | BBC Northern Ireland
