Carers Week 2024 We are delighted to celebrate Carers Week in the UK, a cherished annual campaign. This year’s theme is ‘Putting Carers on the Map’, which shines a light on the unique challenges faced by unpaid carers and acknowledges the invaluable contributions they make to their families and communities. It also encourages those who might not identify themselves as carers to recognise their roles and seek the support they deserve. Last year we launched our Global Caring Policy which has already benefited over 100 of our global colleagues, who have taken paid carers leave to support family members who are seriously ill, elderly, or disabled. Since implementing our policy, we are proud to be recognised as a Carer Positive employer. Last week we welcomed recent new joiners to our global virtual Executive Induction, hosted by Scott McCroskie, CEO, Veronika Gunn-Boesch, Group HR Director and the Talent & Learning Team. The induction took colleagues on a journey through the rich heritage of Edrington, focussing on our strategy and vision, whilst bringing our culture and values to life. The virtual format allowed us to bring together talent from diverse locations, highlighting our commitment to nurturing a global and inclusive workplace. As a global HR team, we support and drive learning programs that align with our organisational development plans and the Edrington Academy offers both live learning sessions and self-led learning opportunities, empowering our colleagues to take charge of their career development and professional growth. Celebrating #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek2024 Recognising the profound link between physical and mental well-being, we encouraged incorporating movement into our daily routines this week at Edrington. Engaging in physical activity prompts the release of endorphins, which can alleviate anxiety and stress while promoting better sleep. By integrating movement into our workday, we enhance productivity and concentration. Globally, colleagues engaged in both individual and group activities, venturing outdoors for a dose of fresh air, some exercise and socialising. Our teams at Great Western Road organised group walks throughout the week, without letting the unpredictable Scottish weather dampen any spirits, whilst our teams in Singapore were joined by Renay Pereira from Filos Community Services, who conducted a stress in the workplace discovery workshop. Scotch Whisky Association, Spirited Careers Conference – May 2024. Reflecting on a fantastic event hosted by Kirsty Summers at SWA, the #SpiritedCareers Conference delved into important topics such as skills, culture, careers, and DE&I. Sara Harrison, Talent Acquisition Manager, and Louise MacDonald Chartered MCIPD, DE&I Manager chaired industry discussions with speakers offering their perspectives on managing innovative talent acquisition strategies and empowering inclusive recruitment and onboarding processes. From early careers to squiggly careers, the emphasis throughout the day was on fostering team growth and success. It was a pleasure connecting with fellow HR, Talent, and Recruitment leaders in the dynamic world of Scotch Whisky.
