We've loved helping Lancashire Tea create this one of a kind armchair for the Southport Flower Show! Using the design of their packaging, and featuring many of the towns, cities and sights of Lancashire, this custom fabric was printed by Edinburgh Weavers Ltd and upholstered by the team here at Plumbs. We think the final result looks perfect for curling up with a cuppa! Do you want to create a show stopping centrepiece for your office or shop? Delighted to see this 'Morton' upholstered Ottoman in the February issue of The English Home When you pick up a copy, look for Kate Freud's "A Fresh Start" feature and read all about Nadia and Lee Taylor's story of relocating from Singapore to Cheltenham. The Morton print was created as a tribute to Edinburgh Weavers pioneer Alastair Morton, to celebrate our 90-year anniversary back in 2014. Here, Morton’s bold and daring art rooted in the arts and crafts movement is fused with the 21st-century EW style. We think the Midnight colourway of Morton really looks fabulous with the soft greens in this living room - what about you? #LivingRoomDesign #ColourScheme #InteriorInspiration

Last month we shared the story of "Design for Alphabet", a fabric designed by Kenneth Rowntree for Edinburgh Weavers back in 1958. We shared with you our mission to preserve our place in design history, by creating our very own archive here at the Robin Hood Mill (despite having extensive work being held by the @Victoria And Albert Museum) So today we are delighted to share another addition to our collection: “A ‘Warriors’ Textile”, a jacquard weave designed by Dame Elisabeth Frink in 1960. Dame Frink was a prolific sculptor and printmaker from England who used her work to explore the nature of being human. Often encapsulating the existential crisis of man in the post-war era. To learn more about our archive building, visit our blog via the link on our company page. Introducing one of the newest additions to the Edinburgh Weavers collection for 2024: PERDITA Inspired by Persian art, this is a conversational fabric with new details revealing themselves the more time you spend with it. Horse riders canter across the countryside, passing trees, birds and villagers. If you are interested in using this fabric in your upcoming projects, please contact our team via [email protected] #BritishFabric #InteriorDesign #ConversationalPrint

The new year brings with it high hopes and grand expectations. It brings visionary energy. This energy is what Edinburgh Weavers was founded on back in 1928 by James Morton, and later taken over by artist son Alastair. (take a look at an example of Alastair's work on the second and third slide!) With only 4 years till our centenary, it feels like we are returning to this energy more than ever before. So here's to 2024 🥂 thank you for taking the time to read our posts, commenting with your thoughts, and supporting our business throughout this year. Let's all channel this visionary energy into our new year, and have the best year yet - with textiles that would make our founders proud. All the best, From the EW team 🎆 #TextileManufacturing #ScottishArtist #PrintedTextiles

James Morton handed the reins of EW to his 21-year-old son Alastair in 1931. He proved to be an inspiration and pioneering leader, transforming EW (in the words of Nikolaus Pevsner) into a “laboratory for the best modern textile art.” Alastair’s bold collaborations with an eclectic range of leading artists and designers, such as Barbara Hepworth and Ben Nicholson, secured EW global fame to the extent that Pevsner declared that the firm’s ‘interesting and enchantingly clever weaves’ were unsurpassed internationally. The feeling of a laboratory can still be found within the walls of EW today! The Robin Hood Mill is always a hive of activity, with deliveries constantly leaving the site and creative ideas being bounced around the studio. Here's to the visionaries 🥂 an energy we should all try and harness as 2023 comes to a close #PrintedTextiles #HistoricTextiles #MadeInBritain

Happy Christmas to all our clients celebrating in their joyful homes today ❤️ We have had so many beautiful Christmassy doors pop up on our Instagram feed in the last couple of weeks, that it would be amiss not to share the beauty with you. Wreaths are one of our most ancient traditions, having been used since at least the times of Ancient Greece, as a symbol of eternal life. In ancient Pagan, German, and Scandinavian cultures, wreaths also symbolised the promise of Spring, and knowing that nature would eventually return. Whatever the wreaths mean to you, it is truly a beautiful tradition that has endured through the ages, bringing joy and hope to our Decembers each and every year. Thank you to the accounts listed below for sharing these images - we encourage you all to have a noisy at their accounts! Especially if you are already stuffed full of Christmas dinner, and are in full "lie on the sofa and digest" mode.
