We're proud to have established #rewilding as a core purpose of our business way back in 2013, and it's STILL the heart of our mission today. Our aim is to rewild 50% of the planet by 2050. It's ambitious, sure, but with the help of the global community, we believe it's possible. We don't just hope for the best, though - hope is valuable, but it needs to be paired with a pragmatic strategy to deliver results. So, we came up with guiding values that would help push us towards this long term goal. These values are what we look for in new employees and partners, and what we strive towards ourselves: Desire to learn We are open-minded and innovative. 🌏 COP16 Colombia Ever wanted to hear about how Biodiversity Credits can be applied to real life projects? This panel as part of COP16 is a great opportunity to do just that with a panel of industry experts showing some incredible projects across the world. This event will share some examples of the current state of the development of different biodiversity credit markets and address some of the ongoing challenges facing the market actors as well as looking to some of the solutions to address these issues. 🌍 We are excited to announce that our CEO Cain Blythe is attending COP16 Colombia 🌍 The Conference encompasses the Sixteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 16). COP 16 will be the first Biodiversity COP since the adoption of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework at COP 15 in December 2022, Montreal, Canada. The primary purpose of COP 16 is to review and advance global efforts to protect biodiversity, implement strategies previously agreed and foster international cooperation in biodiversity conservation. ✅ The Key Objectives of COP include: 🌐 Implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework: this was adopted at COP 15, and it sets ambitious targets for biodiversity through to 2030. COP 16 will focus on monitoring progress, discussing national strategies and mobilising resources to meet the framework’s 23 targets, including conserving 30% of land and sea. 💱 Resource Mobilisation: Ensuring adequate mechanisms and funding for global conservation projects will be a huge focus. 📊 Global Biodiversity Monitoring and Reporting: Enhancing transparency and accountability by discussing standardised methods for monitoring biodiversity and reporting national progress toward targets. 🤝 Indigenous and Local Communities: Addressing the role of Indigenous peoples and local communities in conserving biodiversity and ensuring the safeguarding of traditional knowledge. World Mental Health Day At Ecosulis, we’re reminded daily of how lucky we are to not only work closely with #nature but also play a vital role in restoring the ecosystems that sustain us all. Whether it’s hands-on restoration in the field, storytelling through case studies, or our HR team supporting the well-being of our colleagues, each of us contributes to deepening our connection with nature and with each other. We all know the benefits nature has on our physical and mental wellbeing. Evidence from The Wildlife Trusts shows that a thriving, wildlife-rich environment benefits both physical and mental health. People with nature on their doorstep are more active, mentally resilient, and have better all-round health. Spending time in nature has been shown to support mental health, helping to ease challenges like anxiety and depression. Natural light, in particular, can be beneficial for those experiencing Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)—a type of depression that tends to occur during specific times of the year. As we transition into the colder, darker months, it’s especially important to prioritise our mental well-being. Concerns about climate change can also deeply impact our well-being, affecting various aspects of our lives. If climate anxiety is weighing on you, spending time in nature and reconnecting with the natural world can offer a sense of relief and grounding. At Ecosulis, we actively encourage our employees to take time out in nature, whether through personal time or by meeting up with colleagues, as a way to support both individual well-being and foster team connection. Last week, our Marketing and Partnerships department visited Knepp Estate —a pioneering #rewilding project that has transformed over 3,500 acres of farmland into a thriving natural haven. The visit allowed us to immerse ourselves in this inspirational environment and witness first-hand how rewilding can bring back biodiversity and restore ecosystems. It was also a chance for the team to take a break from their usual routines and reconnect with nature. Spending time at Knepp reminded us of the mental and emotional benefits of being in nature—something we hope to continue encouraging across our entire team at Ecosulis. Engaging with projects like Knepp, not only reinforces our commitment to ecosystem restoration but also nurtures our own well-being, which ultimately strengthens our shared mission. 🔎🕷️ Spooky Season Species Spotted... Raft Spider! 🕷️ Spotted by one of our ecologists Ewan Hitchcoe at Arne, who found this beautiful example of a Raft Spider, most likely Dolomedes Fimbriatus which is widely distributed but scarce, although identification between this and the much rarer Fen Raft Spider is difficult without close examination and or genetic testing. 📏 This large, chunky spider is one of the UK's largest and most fascinating arachnids. Adult raft spiders can have a leg span of 7.7cm. 🏡 Raft spiders are closely associated with water. They are found along the edges of ponds, lakes and slow-moving streams where they can use the water's surface as a hunting ground. 🏹 Adults sit on the edge of the water and use the tension of the water to feel for the vibrations of potential prey such as insects, small fish and tadpoles. Its long legs distribute its weight evenly, allowing it to skim across the surface. 📞 They don't just use the vibrations for catching food, they also have been known to use the vibrations to communicate with each other. 🫧 When threatened, the raft spider can dive underwater, trapping air bubbles in its body hairs to breathe while submerged and can live underwater for around 20 minutes! 🎃 What other Halloween-related species have you spotted recently? #SpottedOnSite #sustainability #Arne #Rewilding #Ecology #RestoreWhatMatters
