Join us as we tackle a critical environmental challenge. Our latest video reveals the urgent steps we’re taking to remediate a former uranium mining site in Kyrgyzstan. A recent inspection exposed a fragile dam, holding nearly one million tonnes of radioactive waste, at imminent risk of collapse, which threatens regional water supplies. Thanks to the Environmental Remediation Account for Central Asia (ERA), and the generous support from the European Union, along with contributions from Belgium, Lithuania, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, and the USA, this essential work is underway. Together, we’re addressing the dangerous legacy of Soviet-era uranium mining and protecting our environment for future generations.

We’re committing up to €25 million to V4C Poland Plus Fund II, a new fund raised by Value4Capital. The fund will invest in lower-middle-market companies, predominantly in Poland, but also in other countries in central and eastern Europe. It will focus on service-oriented firms such as those focusing on software, healthcare, and the digitalisation of business services. The fund is also committing to sustainable finance, with its strategy entailing to allocate a portion of investments to companies with a positive impact on natural environment and climate. By backing a strong regional fund manager such as V4C, we are supporting the growth of the private-equity ecosystem in Poland and the broader CEE region. This is crucial to making the region’s enterprises more competitive and innovative. https://lnkd.in/d2VtQcDe

We're providing a €28 million loan to CGES - Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem AD. The project is one of the largest the EBRD has signed in the country so far this year, and it is highly significant; it will not only secure a safe and reliable electricity supply, reducing transmission losses but it will also integrate 400 MW of renewable energy into the national grid, thus helping the country to decarbonize its economy. Signed by Remon Zakaria, Ivan Asanovic and Novica Vuković.   Together w/ the European Union as part of the Western Balkans Investment Framework.

Proud to modernise Romania’s electricity networks! We’re lending the equivalent of €100 million in Romanian lei to distribution subsidiaries of Public Power Corporation SA, operating in South-Eastern and Western Romania. This is part of a €200 million syndicated loan alongside three local lenders (ING Bank, Banca Comerciala Română (BCR), and Banca Transilvania) to modernise and digitalise the electricity distribution networks, enabling them to better absorb more renewable energy capacities. The upgrades will also enhance energy efficiency and reduce losses in the distribution grid, saving about 31,800 tonnes a year of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions. https://lnkd.in/ePN6TSC6
